Man City to have advantage in the competition to sing young star winger linked with Spurs

The competition for the young winger linked to Spurs is anticipated to be won by Man City.

The Daily Star claims that Manchester City is currently in the lead to sign Brazilian sensation Savio, who is supposedly being considered by Tottenham.

Arriving in Europe in 2022, Savio made his debut at Atletico Mineiro before joining Troyes, a French team.

With six goals and seven assists in all competitions so far this season, the youthful player has thrived in La Liga. He spent the previous season on loan at PSV Eindhoven before moving on loan once more to Girona last summer (Transfermarkt).

A couple of months ago, TEAMtalk claimed that the 19-year-old’s performances this season had caught Tottenham’s eye, with the North London club alleged to be contemplating a move.

However, The Daily Star now say that it is the reigning Premier League champions who have moved to the front of the queue for Savio’s signature.

It is explained that since Troyes, who own the teenager, are part of the City Football Group, Pep Guardiola’s men could land the Brazilian for just £10m next summer.

The report says that in contrast, other clubs would have to pay thrice that amount to sign the pacy winger, which is why City are now in the driving seat for the player’s signature.

Tottenham might have kept an eye on Savio’s development but it is now clear that they have settled on Antonio Nusa as their top target. If they can get a deal for the Norwegian starlet over the line before February 1, it would be a sensational coup for Ange Postecoglou’s men.
