Kobbie Mainoo‘s wonderous strike also brought with it the first senior goal contribution for Omari Forson as he assisted the goal – despite it merely being a simple lay-off.

The two teenagers combined for the winning goal and this was only the second time in Premier League history that it’s happened with the previous time a whopping 19-year-ago, as per Opta.

The previous holders were also United youngsters with Cristiano Ronaldo assisting Wayne Rooney in January 2005. This before Mainoo was even born and Forson was just six months old.

An incredible record which is a testament to United’s tradition of trusting youth. This however wasnt the only impressive stat to emerge from Mainoo’s goal.

Mainoo’s goal also became the first 90th-minute winning goal by a teenage since 2022, when Alejandro Garnacho scored against Fulham, as per TNT Sports.

Before Garnacho, it was Marcus Rashford‘s against Hull under Jose Mourinho in 2016. The last three teens to achieve this all belonged to United and that’s a huge compliment to Carrington.

The country’s greatest academy has once more produced the goods with youngsters now leading the way for Erik ten Hag‘s side.
