Luton manager Rob Edwards chastises two Man United choices, to which Erik ten Hag responds candidly.

Rob Edwards, the manager of Luton Town, was not happy with two choices made after his team’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United on Sunday night.

Rasmus Højlund’s early brace helped United win three points when they traveled to Kenilworth Road.

Luton’s swift reaction did not allow them to score a second goal, as Erik ten Hag’s team was unable to take advantage of their transitional danger.

However, the tides could’ve been changed when Casemiro appeared to escape a second yellow card shortly before half-time. The Brazilian midfielder miscontrolled a pass and fouled an opposition player afterwards.

He was spared by the referee but Ten Hag wanted to take no chances and replaced Casemiro for the second half with Scott McTominay.

“The fact that he came off at half-time might be a little bit of a telltale sign to how I feel about that one,” explained Luton boss Edwards after the game. “I’m not going to complain about it right now.”

Edwards was not impressed with the amount of added time in the game either, with four minutes played, and suggested that it was a low amount because Ten Hag’s side were in the lead.

“Yeah, it was like back to last season that one,” he added. “I don’t know where that one came from. Man United are winning 2-1 and so it’s four minutes…”

Meanwhile, Ten Hag admitted that Casemiro’s offence was a bookable one but believed that the referee allowed him to escape the red card because of the questionable first booking he received on his first foul.

“I don’t think it’s a booking, the first one. Again, with Casemiro, it’s very harsh to concede the first booking, and I don’t understand why,” explained Ten Hag.

“Then, of course, in the second, that was a booking. Very clear, but I think also the referee knows what’s going on with the first one. And I think the refereeing in general, it can’t be all the time Casemiro, by his first tackle, they book him.”
