The best and worst players in Man City vs Manchester derby win is out

Phil Foden’s second half brace ensured that Manchester City kept pace with league leaders Liverpool heading into the business end of the 2023/24 season.

The home side surprisingly headed into half-time 1-0 down to inner-city rivals Man Utd on Sunday, but made their general dominance of proceedings tell in the second half thanks to goals from Foden and a late third from Erling Haaland.

Here’s Man City’s best and worst players in the Manchester derby win, according to 90min’s esteemed player ratings.

Phil Foden: 9/10Foden was fantastic / Robbie Jay Barratt

    Who else?

The England international was in simply stunning form during the second half of the game at the Eithad Stadium on Sunday.

Foden bagged a much-needed equaliser just before the hour mark in outrageous fashion, curling beautifully into the far left corner from 25-yards out, and then added a second in the final ten minutes with a clinical finish from the left of the penalty area.

Along with his brace, Foden’s general play throughout the game was pretty damn immaculate too – as his 95% pass accuracy attests.

    Honourable mentionRodri: 8/10

It’s really hard to argue that there’s a better midfielder in world football right now.

Rodri was once again instrumental for Pep Guardiola’s side on Sunday, bagging two assists, completing 100 out of 111 passes, recovering possession eight times and winning five duels.

A typically brilliant performance from the Spanish international.

Jeremy Doku: 5/10 Not a great performance

While Man City have been thumping teams left, right and centre recently, Doku’s rather disappointing performances have largely gone under the radar.

The Belgian winger made it 11 outings without a goal or assist on Sunday, and never really threatened to break his duct either.
