    It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of Mark Richt, the beloved former head coach of the University of Georgia Bulldogs football team, at the age of 78. Richt, who spent 15 seasons as Georgia’s head coach, was one of the most respected and influential figures in college football history.     Richt took over as Georgia’s head coach in 2001 and quickly made his mark, leading the Bulldogs to a remarkable 15 consecutive bowl appearances.
