BREAKING: Red Sox sign 22-Year-Old Slugger in free Agency over Cardinals as a potential return for Arenado

Spring Training is just around the corner, and there’s still plenty of speculation about potential moves the Boston Red Sox could make.

Boston has expressed a desire to add more offensive firepower this offseason, but so far, no major additions have been made. The Red Sox have been linked to Alex Bregman in free agency and Nolan Arenado as a trade target. Both options could be viable, and there’s still time to make a move.

Interest in Arenado has intensified in recent days, with Boston once again being mentioned as a possible landing spot. If a deal were to materialize, who might the Red Sox send in return? According to MLB.com’s John Denton, Boston’s No. 22 prospect, Blaze Jordan, has been discussed as part of a potential trade package.

“One player the Cardinals have discussed as a potential return for Arenado, per a source, is slugging first baseman Blaze Jordan, the No. 22 prospect in the Red Sox’s system,” Denton reported. “Cardinals front-office advisor Chaim Bloom, who has been named the club’s president of baseball operations in 2026 following John Mozeliak’s retirement, was previously Boston’s chief baseball officer from 2020-23 and has extensive knowledge of the Red Sox’s farm system.”

Jordan, selected by Boston in the third round of the 2020 MLB Draft, played in 89 games for the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs in 2024, hitting seven home runs with 61 RBIs while slashing .261/.305/.388. He showed more power in previous seasons, hitting 18 home runs in 122 games in 2023 and 12 homers in 120 games in 2022.
