It was a delighted Jurgen Klopp who steered the media after the 2-0 win over Wolves, with Darwin Nunez and Anfield receiving praise.

    Darwin already ‘super important’

Back in the starting line-up after missing Palace’s trip with a shoulder injury, Darwin Nunez was lively and even had a goal disallowed.

His importance to the team has not escaped the fans or the coach.

“He’s really coming, everyone can see that he’s just a handful and he’s a real threat. The goal he scored was a super reaction, a super finish,” Klopp said. “Still a kid and everyone can see we’ll get there, but already very important to us.”

    A positive night all around

We all needed that win after the last two results and the Reds walked away with a list of positives, even if the game was not a classic.

“A good performance for us is very important, and obviously a clean slate, which is a big help,” he said.

“Those are all positives for us, all good.”

    A timely boost from Virgil

Virgil van Dijk has had no shortage of criticism lately, but his focus and overall performance have been just the boost he needed. But it wasn’t just his captaincy that impressed Klopp.

“We all need that [push], even [Virgil] needs it. In a tough game for the defenders, I think we played a really good game overall,” he said.

“Central defenders and Fabinho together, covering that area, denying counter-attacks and defending in midfield, I think they did a really good job.”

“I still think it was a goal, but…”

Nunez appeared to have scored the opener, only for Paul Tierney to consult the pitchside monitor and rule out the goal.

Diogo Jota was found guilty of misconduct, but maybe it was the other way around, where should he go?

“When you see it in slow motion, then you see the contact, but I still think it was a goal, but that doesn’t matter anymore,” Klopp said.

“The players don’t have representatives, but it’s a clear goal for them. You have to react [to adversity].”

    Luckily, we did just that!

    Then Manchester United

Manchester United are still four days away from leaving for Anfield and Klopp knows a rigorous test awaits him, but Liverpool have Anfield on his side.

“In the best possible way, but in the end it was a different game and a big challenge for us,” said the coach.

“It’s a home game, it’s Anfield. I thought Anfield proved another point tonight, it was super, super fun. It felt like a real unit, all together – I love it.
