The Boston Red Sox are more than ready to make a statement this 2025 MLB season. The team and the fans can feel the excitement of potentially getting back in the playoffs.
They are not the only ones who feel the same about the team’s chances this season. Red Sox legend, three-time World Series champion, and Baseball Hall of Fame member David “Big Papi” Ortiz is confident of the team heading into the campaign.
In an interview with New England Sports Network about the Red Sox being a playoff team, Ortiz responded, “I think so. Let me tell you, I always believe in teams that have good pitching. When you have good pitching, you can slow down offenses and you don’t need a whole lot of offenses to win games. So, I think we’re back on track with the pitching that we have this year,” Ortiz said.
The Red Sox made some big moves this offseason, especially with their pitching. Boston traded four players to the Chicago White Sox for Garrett Crochet.
He is coming off a career year with his first All-Star selection and was named AL Comeback Player of the Year. Crochet had an ERA of 3.58 and delivered 209 strikeouts.
Boston also returns Tanner Houck and Brayan Bello, who have both been efficient. Their biggest free agent signings in the bullpen are two-time All-Star and former Los Angeles Dodgers’ Walker Buehler.
Add these four starting pitchers, an eager Lucas Giolito who missed all of 2024 with a torn UCL and an experienced relief pitching squad, the Red Sox might be elite.
