“Robert Redford’s Grandkids Reveal Never-Before-Seen Photos & Touching Stories in Heartfelt Tributes After His Passing”

Hollywood is mourning the loss of Robert Redford, and some of the most moving tributes are coming from those who loved him most — his grandchildren. Shortly after the legendary actor passed away on September 16, 2025, at age 89, his family shared intimate memories on social media, offering rare glimpses into the personal side of Redford beyond the silver screen.

Rare Family Moments Shared

  • Conor Schlosser, son of Redford’s daughter Shauna, posted a collection of photos spanning Redford’s life as both public figure and grandfather. Among them were throwback childhood shots of Conor riding horses with his grandfather and playing golf. Those quieter, family-first moments were interspersed with more recent memories: dinners, hugs, shared laughter. In his tribute, Conor wrote: “He was larger than life to the world, but to his family, he was simply that … family. Rest in peace, Grandpa.” He also asked followers to send their own stories of Redford, wanting to gather memories as part of the family’s collective gratitude.
  • Lena Hart Redford, daughter of Redford’s late son James, also shared deeply personal photos. These included images of childhood adventures: horseback riding, time on film sets, and a tender snapshot of Redford with both her and her late father. One playful image shows Redford and Lena both wearing Kangol beanies, which she recalls fondly. Another heartfelt caption read, “Dad & grandpa, I feel like they are riding awesome horses in heaven.”
  • Dylan Redford, Lena’s brother, contributed his own message: celebrating his grandfather as “the best Grampa a grandson could ask for,” highlighting how Redford impacted not just their household, but inspired many. His tribute underscored Redford’s legacy of using art as a force for change, and of kindness beyond his fame.

Legacy, Love & Loss

Robert Redford is survived by his wife, Sibylle Szaggars, his daughters Shauna and Amy, and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons: Scott, who died in infancy, and James, who passed away in 2020 from bile-duct cancer.

While Redford was often celebrated for his landmark films — Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting, Out of Africa — and as founder of the Sundance Film Festival, it’s these authentic family moments shared right now that are touching hearts. They remind fans and the public that behind every icon, there is a lifetime of smaller, quiet moments of love, mentorship, and presence.

Why These Tributes Matter

  • They humanize a figure often seen only in grand public settings; even someone with Redford’s fame is, for his grandchildren, “Grandpa” first.
  • They preserve personal memories that might otherwise fade — childhood joys, small lessons, family traditions.
  • They reveal a legacy beyond art: family, teaching, love, and carrying forward the values he embodied.

Robert Redford died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Sundance, Utah, surrounded by loved ones. The photos and stories shared now serve as a reminder that sometimes the most powerful part of a legacy lives not in fame or awards, but in the hearts of family.
