“Chrissy Teigen Opens Up About Turning to Ozempic After Heartbreaking Loss of Son Jack: Model Shares Emotional Battle With Grief, Body Image and Healing”

Chrissy Teigen is no stranger to sharing her most vulnerable moments with the world, and her latest revelation has once again sparked heartfelt conversations. The model, cookbook author, and television personality opened up on her Self-Conscious podcast about the surprising role Ozempic played in her healing journey after the devastating loss of her son Jack in 2020.

Teigen and her husband, singer John Legend, announced the heartbreaking loss at 20 weeks of pregnancy, a tragedy that left millions of fans grieving alongside them. But behind the scenes, Teigen said she also faced an intensely personal battle with her body. Carrying the weight from her pregnancy without the child she had longed for left her in what she described as a deep depression, compounded by the sight of a belly that reminded her of what she had lost.

“I was stuck in a body that didn’t feel like mine,” she admitted. “I had about 40 extra pounds that became a constant reminder of Jack, and it was crushing.”

Searching for answers, Teigen turned to Ozempic, a medication originally designed for type 2 diabetes that has since surged in popularity as a weight-loss treatment. She revealed that she used the drug for about a year following Jack’s passing.

At first, the results were nonexistent. “I didn’t lose anything for months,” she recalled, describing how frustrating it was to commit to something without seeing progress. Eventually, however, the weight began to come off, helping ease the emotional burden of living in a body tied so closely to her grief.

But the process was far from simple. While Ozempic offered her a path forward, it also brought new challenges. Teigen explained that one of the hardest side effects was the loss of appetite, something particularly tough for a woman who has built a career around celebrating food. “I love food. Cooking, eating—it’s a huge part of me. To suddenly not feel hungry, to have to force myself to eat just to keep energy, that was frustrating,” she confessed.

She also acknowledged the stigma around weight-loss injections, especially during a period when shortages left some diabetes patients struggling to access the medication. Teigen said this made her reluctant to go public with her experience at first. “I worried about how it would be perceived,” she noted, admitting she felt conflicted between her personal healing and the broader conversation around the drug.

Still, for Teigen, Ozempic became more than just a tool for weight loss—it was part of her grieving process. By reclaiming her body, she was able to take a step toward reclaiming her identity after tragedy. “It wasn’t about vanity,” she explained. “It was about finding myself again after losing so much.”

Now a mother of four, Teigen continues to use her platform to advocate for open conversations around grief, healing, and body image. By speaking candidly about her struggles, she hopes to remind others facing loss that healing can take many forms—and that no journey looks the same.
