📰 Tribute from Mandy Moore: What She Said About Keaton After Her Passing

Mandy Moore paid a heartfelt tribute to Diane Keaton following the news of the beloved actress’s death at age 79. Moore and Keaton starred together in the 2007 film Because I Said So, in which Keaton played the mother to Moore’s character.

On Instagram, Moore reflected on her admiration for Keaton and the honor of working with her:

“They say don’t meet your heros but I got to work with one of mine and even call her ‘mom’ for a few months. An honor of a lifetime. What an incandescent human Di is and was.”

She also added:

“I am so sad she’s gone … it felt like she’d be here forever, dazzling us with her talent and charm (and her style, c’mon)!!! One of the very best to ever do it.”

Over the summer, Moore had also spoken fondly of her experience working with Keaton, calling it a “bucket list experience” and saying Keaton had long been someone she placed “on a pedestal.”

Their time together on Because I Said So clearly meant a lot to Moore. In the movie, Keaton’s character, Daphne Wilder, meddles in her daughter’s romantic life, and Moore played that daughter, Milly.

Moore’s tribute stands out because it’s deeply personal — phrased not just as admiration for a fellow actor, but as someone who got to call her “mom” onscreen. It underscores how film roles can sometimes form emotional bonds that last far beyond the set.
