Justin Baldoni’s Texts Describe Tense Confrontation With Ryan Reynolds Over Blake Lively Lawsuit

Justin Baldoni is digging in deeper as the legal battle with Blake Lively intensifies — newly surfaced text messages suggest a highly emotional confrontation between him and Ryan Reynolds, Lively’s husband. According to Baldoni’s side, the evening left him “emotionally paralyzed.”

Baldoni claims the meeting took place in January 2024 at Reynolds and Lively’s New York City apartment, and followed a series of growing tensions related to their film It Ends with Us. In text messages revealed in legal filings, he recalls how Reynolds allegedly “scolded” him “like a five‑year-old” and read aloud a string of accusations.

According to Baldoni’s texts to actor Rainn Wilson, he says Reynolds used words like “creepy” and “abuse” from a written list, pressuring him to read a formal apology. But Baldoni claims he couldn’t bring himself to go through with it.

In the emotional message, Baldoni admits he was struggling internally:

“My brain was struggling because what I wanted to say and do was run and blow this whole movie up … And yet, the only path forward was to acknowledge her and Ryan’s feelings … and take the wrath of an angry husband.”

He continues, saying that he prayed for the right words to apologize, but they just didn’t come. “I felt abandoned by God in that moment,” he wrote, though he added that he knew deep down that’s not how things really were.

Baldoni also expressed how disorienting it was to feel so misunderstood. He wrote, “It’s hard to feel so much of what they believe about me is false because they are so convinced that it’s real.”

The confrontation, he alleges, was about more than just a misunderstanding. In court filings, he says Reynolds was upset about a question Baldoni supposedly asked a trainer: how much Lively weighed for a scene in which Baldoni would have to lift her. Baldoni maintains he asked purely for practical reasons—because of his own history with back issues.

Baldoni’s legal team has characterized the encounter as “inappropriate and humiliating,” saying the meeting was “traumatic” and that Reynolds’ tone was more than just stern — it was angry and personal.

Beyond that, the texts suggest this drama is part of a broader power struggle. In his lawsuit, Baldoni accuses Lively and Reynolds of using their celebrity status to lean on him creatively and professionally. According to his filings, Lively even threatened to quit It Ends with Us unless her demands were met.

These revelations come amid a larger public and legal fight. Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni in December 2024, claiming sexual harassment and emotional distress. In response, Baldoni countersued for defamation and extortion.

As this side of the story unfolds, Baldoni says he’s trying to make sense of ways he feels unfairly portrayed. Whether these texts will shift public opinion or carry weight in court remains to be seen — but one thing is clear: he’s not backing down.
