Hollywood stars who REFUSE to celebrate Thanksgiving over animal cruelty and its ‘blood-soaked’ history

Thanksgiving had always been a time for family dinners, pumpkin pies, and bustling kitchens. But in Hollywood’s glittering circles, a growing faction of stars had begun to rethink the tradition altogether. Among them was Celeste Monroe, 34, an acclaimed actress known for her fierce activism, and Jaxon Raines, 42, a rising director whose work often highlighted social justice issues. Both had announced this year that they would not be participating in conventional Thanksgiving celebrations.

“For me, it’s not just about turkey on a plate,” Celeste said in a fictional interview with Luminary Weekly. “It’s about remembering the suffering that’s been ignored for centuries. I can’t sit down to a feast that has blood on its hands and pretend it’s innocent.”

Jaxon echoed her sentiments in a post shared to his private blog: “The history of Thanksgiving is often sanitized. People forget the displacement of Indigenous peoples, the exploitation of animals, and the centuries of myths surrounding the holiday. Choosing not to celebrate is my way of acknowledging that.”

The pair had teamed up with a small group of like-minded actors, producers, and musicians who shared similar concerns. They hosted an alternative event, a “Harvest of Consciousness,” where participants prepared plant-based meals, discussed the history of the holiday, and volunteered virtually for animal welfare organizations.

Inside a sprawling Los Angeles loft decorated with autumn leaves, the group gathered. The smell of roasted vegetables, spiced pumpkin, and almond-based cheeses replaced the traditional scent of turkey. Plates were filled with hearty grains, root vegetables, and rich sauces. Conversations ranged from sustainable farming to modern ethical dilemmas, all tinged with gratitude for life and compassion rather than tradition.

Yet outside their private celebration, social media exploded. Fans debated the ethics of choosing to abstain from Thanksgiving. Supporters praised the stars for raising awareness, while critics accused them of being “dramatic” or “elitist.” The conversation quickly spread beyond Hollywood circles, sparking a national dialogue about morality, tradition, and change.

Celeste, however, remained unfazed. “If people want to criticize, that’s their choice. I’m making a decision based on conscience, not popularity,” she said. Jaxon added, “The real victory is that we’re having a conversation that might not have happened otherwise.”

By evening, the fictional stars had gathered virtually with friends and family who could not attend in person. Laughter and music filled their screens, proving that holidays could be meaningful without following every historical or cultural expectation.

Though unconventional, this Thanksgiving left an impression—not of lost traditions, but of evolved ones. Celeste and Jaxon reminded their followers that celebrating ethically could still bring joy, connection, and reflection, showing that even Hollywood could learn to pause, reconsider, and choose compassion over convention.
