Tara Reid case takes shocking turn as cops say they found NO evidence her drink was spiked

Police investigating Tara Reid’s alarming claim that her drink was spiked at a Chicago-area hotel bar say they have found no evidence to support the allegation, marking a dramatic twist in a story that has gained national attention. The actress, 49, first reported the incident in late November after what she described as a “terrifying” night that ended with her waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. But according to investigators, newly reviewed surveillance footage paints a very different picture.

Reid reported that she had been at the DoubleTree by Hilton O’Hare Airport–Rosemont hotel bar when she stepped outside for a cigarette, returning to find a napkin covering her wine glass — something she insisted she hadn’t placed there. After drinking from the glass, she claimed she rapidly blacked out and was later informed by medical staff that she had been drugged. The star immediately filed a police report and used social media to warn others about the dangers of unattended drinks.

However, police reviewing the CCTV footage now say that events appear far more routine. The video reportedly shows a bartender — not a stranger — placing a napkin over Reid’s drink after she stepped away, an action the hotel says is standard practice to prevent contamination or spills. Investigators say they found no moment on camera where anyone tampered with her beverage or added anything to it. Likewise, they found no suspicious behavior from patrons nearby.

The Rosemont Public Safety Department confirmed that there is currently no identified suspect and no evidence of a crime, though they emphasized that the case has not been formally closed as they continue to await final medical documentation and toxicology reports from the hospital where Reid was taken. These results may shed further light on whether any foreign substance was present in her system that night.

Despite the findings, Reid continues to maintain that something serious happened. She described the incident as “horrifying,” saying she had consumed only one drink before losing consciousness. She also told officers about a man she met at the bar — reportedly a YouTuber — who later sent her videos showing her in an incoherent state, a detail that has led her supporters to insist that more investigation is needed.

The case has sparked widespread public debate, with many pointing out that lack of CCTV evidence doesn’t necessarily rule out drink spiking, especially if a substance dissolves quickly or is administered in ways not easily visible. Others argue that the police findings demonstrate the importance of relying on verifiable evidence in high-profile incidents that can rapidly spread across social media.

For now, the official position remains unchanged: no evidence suggests that Reid’s drink was tampered with, though investigators say they will reassess if new information emerges. The actress, meanwhile, says she hopes speaking out will still encourage people — especially women — to stay vigilant about drink safety, regardless of how her own case ultimately concludes.
