Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta warns Liverpool to stay away from one of his star during the transfer season
According to TalkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor, Mason Mount would do nothing for Arsenal or Liverpool. The Chelsea star is set to leave the club this summer after his contract expires next year.
The Gunners were one of the teams who would like the England international as his contract situation at Stamford Bridge is likely to bring the price down significantly. Manchester United and Liverpool have also been linked.
Mount hasn’t been as consistent this season as he has been in previous years as injuries and his form have prevented him from finding consistency. Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has reportedly been in talks with Mount over a potential stay at his boyhood club, although no breakthrough has been made.
Mikel Arteta is keen to bolster his midfield options ahead of next season, with Mount emerging as a likely candidate alongside West Ham captain Declan Rice and Brighton Moises Caicedo. football.london understands the Gunners are prioritizing a move for Rice, but his asking price of over £100million could be too expensive.
Mount’s serves are expected to be highly competitive throughout the summer given his versatility in midfield and wide-field. However, the 24-year-old’s quality has been questioned by Agbonlahor, with the former Aston Villa man insisting he is ‘nothing special’. Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “He’s scored 27 goals in 129 games, it’s not fantastic, or let’s be honest. The stats show he’s not [a great player]. It’s a good player, but he is not exceptional.
“Mason Mount is an attacking midfielder, he should score goals. It brings nothing. Odegaard scored 14 goals in a season.”

Bukayo Saka suprised by his 24-year-old Arsenal teammate ‘this season’
Bukayo Saka has raved about Arsenal attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard and has praised him for his performance against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Sunday.
Saka has told Arsenal’s official website that his Gunners teammate Odegaard is “a fantastic leader” and has been so “all season”.
The £30 million (SkySports) playmaker scored the opening goal for Arsenal in their 2-0 win against Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.
Odegaard played well for the Gunners, especially in the first half, and was a problem for the Newcastle defence during his time on the pitch.
Bukayo Saka on Arsenal teammate Martin Odegaard
Saka said about Odegaard: “He’s a fantastic leader, he has been all season. He’s been leading by example, on and off the pitch. Hopefully he can continue this form.”
In our view, Martin Odegaard is one of the best playmakers in the Premier League and is a key figure for Arsenal.
The playmaker has scored 15 goals and given seven assists in 34 Premier League matches for the Gunners this season.
The 24-year-old has added goals to his game this season and is making the right calls when it comes to shooting on goal.
Odegaard is not the kind of leader who digs his teammates out on the pitch or shouts and screams at them.
The attacking midfielder lets his football do the talking.
He is calm under pressure and knows exactly what to say and do when the going gets tough.
Odegaard is a gem of a footballer, and Arsenal are a better team with him in it.
