Barcelona addresses transfer rumors linking them with Erling Haaland and De Jong

Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, has reacted to rumors that the team is planning to acquire Erling Haaland during the summer transfer window.

Since moving from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City in 2022, the Norwegian striker has dominated the Premier League, tallying 54 goals in 58 games played in the top division.

Haland stated he was “happy” at Man City in a recent interview, although he also acknowledged that getting a new deal is not his primary “focus” at the moment.

Barcelona may be looking for a new striker as Robert Lewandowski turns 36 later this year, but Laporta squelched any hopes of making a splashy acquisition in the upcoming transfer window.

“We don’t need any big signing,” he told Mundo Deportivo (via Fabrizio Romano). “There will be movements but I don’t anticipate big ones, just team players.

“Our priority is to trust the team we have right now, we don’t want to sign players who could distort our harmony.”

Meanwhile, speculation over Frenkie de Jong’s future continues to bubble away. The Dutchman has previously been linked with Chelsea, Manchester United and Spurs, but Laporta predicts the 26-year-old midfielder will remain at the club.

“Frenkie de Jong is super happy here,” Laporta claimed. “The last thing he wants is to leave Barcelona.

“He always told me that he loves to be at Barça and we’re delighted with Frenkie too. I’m not worried with his future, at all.”
