BOOM Kylian Mbappe to Man United deal Now in Crucial as player set to join Tomorrow – Agreement reached on a 4yr deal today

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has declared the club have made ‘progress’ in their quest to sign a new striker.

The 53-year-old has admitted that the Red Devils need more cutting edge up front after mustering just 58 Premier League last season – the lowest of the top six.

Midfielder Mason Mount and goalkeeper Andre Onana have already been brought in, with United now pressing ahead with a deal to sign a centre-forward.

Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe is claimed to be of interest, with the 2018 World Cup winner facing an uncertain future at Parc des Princes.

Saudi side Al Hilal have had a world-record £260million bid accepted by Les Parisiens, but it remains unclear whether the 24-year-old would make the move to the Middle East.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of United’s pre-season clash against Wrexham, Ten Hag was pressed about a possible swoop for Mbappe – even on loan.

To which he simply stated: “We never speak about players who are under contract in other clubs.”

One player that United are believed to be targeting is Atalanta’s £85m-rated marksman Rasmus Hojlund.

Asked about his search for a new striker, Ten Hag gave a positive update to fans, as he said: “We make progress, yeah.

“But you know how it works – when we have him, we will tell you directly.

“The only thing I can say is we do everything that’s in our power to get that done. If it was up to me, yeah, as soon as possible.

“The earlier the better because we have to integrate him in the team, the way of play.

“In an ideal situation, he was already here but you do not always get ideal situations as a manager and you have to deal with the situation.”

Commenting on his side’s lack of goals last campaign, the Dutchman added: “We are underperforming there, and we are aware of it so others have to contribute also in that area, therefore we are looking for scoring abilities.

“I think with Mason Mount already we have a player extra who is capable of not only scoring goals but also to create, and to put players like [Marcus] Rashford into position to score more goals.

“But as a whole team we have to score more.”
