Chelsea Cole’s starting line-up confirmed as Palmer and Deivid Washington sit on the bench
Mauricio Pochettino has named the same starting lineup that beat Luton Town last Friday and picked Cole Palmer on the bench for £42.5m.
Robert Sanchez started again in goal assisted by Djordje Petrovic on the bench. Striker Thiago Silva returned to the squad after being benched against AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup earlier this week. He will play between Axel Disasi and Levi Colwill, who recovered from a slight collision with Dons. Malo Gusto continues to replace Reece James on the right wing. Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo return to Chelsea’s midfield to play alongside Conor Gallagher. The Cobham product has started every game of the season so far and has remained with the Blues despite belated interest from Tottenham on expiration date.
Raheem Sterling will be looking to maintain his impressive form after a complete absence on Wednesday night, while Ben Chilwell will again take up a high role on the left wing. The duo will be looking to support striker Nicolas Jackson, who will be looking to add his first Premier League goal against the Hatters just over a week ago.
In addition to Palmer, Deivid Washington also appeared on the Chelsea bench for the first time, where Pochettino once again chose to bring on two goalkeepers. Chelsea squad:
Sanchez, Gusto, Disasi, Silva, Colwill, Fernandez, Caicedo, Gallagher, Sterling, Chilwell, Jackson.
Sub: Bergstrom, Petrovic, Cucurella, Maatsen, Ugochukwu, Madueke, Mudryk, Palmer, Washington.
