Erik ten Hag gives disturbing injury update on Man United star after West Ham match
Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has given a concerning update over Lisandro Martinez’s injury following his substitution during today’s victory over West Ham.
Martinez appeared to be in a lot of pain and anguish as he departed the field, which soured the Red Devils’ easy victory over the Hammers at Old Trafford.
The Argentine defender has been excellent since joining Man Utd, but he has struggled to play this season because of persistent health problems. It appears Ten Hag anticipates that he will miss time on the sidelines once more, according to Fabrizio Romano in the article on X below.
??? Ten Hag on Lisandro injury.
“It seems bad… now we can only pray”.
“We wait for the tests but we are really sad. It looks like he has to sit some games out injured again”.
— Fabrizio Romano
Martinez will surely be missed if he’s out for another extended period, so fans will hope Ten Hag is being overly pessimistic with his reaction here.
MUFC will have enjoyed their result today but this news has certainly put a downer on things.

Hojlund explains United goal celebration as Garnacho cites ‘inspiration’
Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund said his air guitar goal celebration was one he planned in the summer with friends.
The striker opened the scoring in Sunday’s 3-0 win over West Ham United at Old Trafford with a fine finish on his 21st birthday. Fresh from scoring against Wolves in midweek, the Denmark international netted his fourth goal in as many Premier League games in the first half against the Hammers.
After Casemiro won possession back for United with a terrific interception, Hojlund, after a tidy bit of skill, fired a blistering effort past Hammers goalkeeper Alphonse Areola from just inside the penalty area. It was a super finish from the former Atalanta man and moved him to 10 goals for the season and five in his last six games in all competitions.

Hojlund celebrated reaching double figures with an air guitar celebration, hopping up and down on his right leg as he pretended to strum the imaginary instrument. He was then mobbed by the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, who scored twice after half-time, and Kobbie Mainoo.
“It was very good,” Hojlund told Sky Sports. “It is always special to play on your birthday – I had the same last year. Today, of course, with a win, a very good win [meant it was special]. A goal from both me and him [Garnacho] and I’m happy.
“I have spoken about doing celebrations with my friends and they told me to do a guitar in the summer. I hadn’t done it yet, but today was the day.”
On him and Garnacho getting themselves on the scoresheet, Hojlund added: “A month ago there was a lot of talk about us not scoring enough goals but we are both young and growing every day. You can see the connection between us.”
Garnacho was also asked about his goal celebration, which saw him perch himself on the edge of the advertising hoardings and put his hands on his hips. Many felt it was mimicking West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus, who celebrated in the exact same manner after scoring in the Hammers’ 2-0 win over United at the London Stadium prior to Christmas, but it may also have been a nod to Garnacho’s all-time hero, Cristiano Ronaldo, who has often celebrated in a similar manner.
On his celebration, Garnacho quipped: “I am very happy because I scored two goals. The celebration is an inspiration.”
