Fabinho and Alisson break silence on Roberto Firmino leaving Liverpool in moving interview

Fabinho and Alisson spoke openly about their Brazilian teammate who will leave at the end of the season

Liverpool duo Fabinho and Alisson Becker have broken their silence over Roberto Firmino’s impending departure to Anfield.

The 31-year-old is set to leave the club when his contract expires in June – the Daily Mail now suggest Barcelona are likely to be his next destination.

With the Brazilian Reds squad down to just two members, it’s clear that Firmino has had an impact on the team given his eight years at the club. The striker arrived from Hoffenheim in 2015 and helped Jurgen Klopp’s side win the Premier League, Champions League and Club World Cup.

But seemingly keen to seek new pastures, it’s a timely reminder of the full task Klopp has set himself, with Alisson himself explaining how sad he will be to see Firmino leave later this year. “Bobby is a very good friend of ours and someone who is extremely important to this team. Liverpool fans have taken to social media to react to the performance of Steven Gerrard’s son at Anfield during Saturday afternoon’s Premier League match against Nottingham Forest. Lio, 5, was a mascot for the Reds’ 3-2 win against the East Midlands side this weekend and was photographed hanging out with Mohamed Salah, who Gerrard had previously revealed was his son’s favorite player that was at the club.

After taking to the field before kick-off, Lio watched the game with his father and Liverpool legend Gerrard in the penalty area before taking a penalty for the Kop at half-time.

After clips of the five-year penalty went viral on Twitter over the next few hours, Reds fans light-heartedly joked that Lio was about to follow in his father’s footsteps at Anfield, winning the Champions League, FA Cup, League . Cup and UEFA during his 17 years in the first team.
