Good News:Bregman Back To Houston Astros, Just Altuve And Fans Celebrated Sealed Deal…

HOUSTON — In front of a throng of gathered media Alex Bregman officially changed area codes Monday to Minute Maid Park as the first-round draft pick’s meteoric rise through the minor leagues culminated with his call up to the Houston Astros.

The No. 2 overall pick became the first position player from the Class of 2015 to play in the major leagues as he started at third base for manager A.J. Hinch and the Astros in the series opener against the New York Yankees on Monday night.

“I gained confidence moving up through the minor leagues because of the great teammates and coaches I had in the Astros system helping me along the way,” Bregman said. “This is what you dream about doing — getting to the big leagues and playing in the postseason. All of these guys are excited to be here and excited to go out and play every day. I just want to be another guy in the clubhouse that will help this team win games.”

Bregman was unable to pick up his first career hit in his debut, going 0 for 4 with two strikeouts and five runners left on base, but he made several remarkable defensive stops in the first half of the game while patrolling third.
