Erik ten Hag told he has two games to save Manchester United job as ‘serious questions’ asked of manager
Robbie Savage says Man Utd boss should be given until Christmas if he survives “massive” test
Manchester United may only give Erik ten Hag two more games to turn around a poor run of form, according to Robbie Savage.
The former Premier League midfielder, who started his career at Old Trafford, sees the upcoming trips to Fulham and Copenhagen as “massive” to Ten Hag keeping his job.
The Red Devils sit eighth in the Premier League table ahead of the Saturday lunchtime kick-off at Craven Cottage, but have only three points on 14th-placed Fulham after last weekend’s derby defeat to Manchester City.
Newcastle then dispatched United by the same 3-0 scoreline in the Carabao Cup to leave many fans demanding change in the dugout.
For Savage, 49, Ten Hag should get until Christmas to turn things around but two more bad results could mean curtains for the Dutch manager.
“The next few games are massive for them,” he told Planet Sport Bet. “Fulham away in the Premier League, then I’m going out to Copenhagen to watch them in the Champions League.
“If they lose against Fulham on Saturday, then for me, the midweek match next week against Copenhagen becomes a must-win game.
“I’m sure Erik ten Hag doesn’t think everything is fine – he’s got to solve problems and work things out, maybe change his style of football, but whatever he’s doing now is not working. If Manchester United lose both of their upcoming games, I think there’s some serious questions to be asked about whether Ten Hag can continue in his role at the club.
“I’ve always said to give Erik ten Hag time and give him until Christmas, but inevitably, all managers and coaches are judged on results.

“If they beat Fulham and Copenhagen, then I’ll stick with my opinion that he should be given until Christmas, but we all know that it’s a results business. I’m not for one to say we should sack managers because I don’t know what goes on in that football club, but you can’t lose the next two games and think everything will be fine.”
