‘He’s so good’: Ex-Liverpool player thinks £100m star signing could win Klopp the title coming season
Former Liverpool player Don Hutchinson believes the Reds have a chance of winning the PL title if they sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton.
The Merseysiders have been very active this summer in terms of signings and transfer rumours. The club have signed midfield pair Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai for a combined transfer fee of £95million.
With veteran midfielders leaving Anfield this summer, the Reds currently need to sign at least one more midfielder to close the gap in the middle of the park.
Romeo Lavia’s name is most in the spotlight as Fabinho’s replacement in the defensive midfield position. Another name making the rounds is Andre Trindade from Fluminese.
Hutchinson suggests Moises Caicedo can win PL for Liverpool
Taking to Twitter, the former Liverpool midfielder shared his thoughts saying:
“…but I’m in if Liverpool sign Caicedo (on top of what they already have) they could win him. He’s so good!
He also predicted Manchester City could win the 2023-24 PL. In the same tweet, he explains:
“As things stand (excluding signings), Man City are my clear favorites to win the Premier…”

Caicedo is an excellent defensive midfielder considering his stats and age. The 21-year-old had 100 tackles in PL last season, only Fulham’s Joao Palhinha has more tackles than him (stats via FBref). The Ecuadorian could be a huge asset to this Liverpool side as he proved his worth last season. But the main problem would be his price tag set by the Seagulls.
Brighton signed Mac Allister’s former team-mate in 2021 for just £4m from Independiente del Valle. And apparently, since Declan Rice was sold for £105m this summer, they now want £100m for Caicedo.
Chelsea are already chasing the 21-year-old and could even pay a ridiculous amount for him. The Reds, on the other hand, are looking for a cheaper alternative and Lavia seems like a good option. Caicedo’s pursuit by Liverpool would be nothing more than a fantasy.
