Arsenal announced Tierney’s signing on the final day of the 2019 summer transfer window, paying a sum of £25 million. After the Glasgow giants had turned down two previous proposals, the Gunners and Celtic had agreed on a fee in the preceding 24 hours. But serious injuries derailed Tierney’s first three seasons at the Emirates Stadium.

He was sidelined by a shoulder injury sustained in December 2019 until June 2020, when the Premier League resumed play following its first hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Scotland international missed two distinct portions of the 2020–21 season due to a recurring knee ailment, and he needed knee surgery in the later part of the 2021–22 campaign.

In July 2022, Arsenal signed Manchester City left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko in a £32m deal. The 26-year-old’s arrival at the Emirates Stadium pushed Tierney further down the pecking order. The former Celtic star was used as cover for the Ukraine international.

It makes sense if Tierney requested to leave Arsenal during the summer transfer window of 2023 and signed a season-long loan with Real Sociedad of La Liga. The Douglas native has made an impression even if his 2023–24 season appearance total has once again been limited by injury.

After seeing how well Tierney performed in Spain, Sociedad is reportedly mulling a £30 million deal to capture him for the upcoming summer. The full-back has returned to the field ahead of schedule following a serious hamstring injury.

Sociedad has no official option to buy Tierney when his loan deal expires, but Arsenal could sell him in 2024. During the summer of 2023, the club was keen to fetch around £30m for him.

Jones suggests that Arteta won’t be watching Tierney’s progress at Sociedad and will want the left-back to be successful and find himself a new permanent home. The journalist has also stated he’d be surprised if the defender wanted to return to Arsenal having rediscovered himself abroad. Jones told GIVEMESPORT:

“I think it’s great that he’s finding a new pathway for himself. After going down that road and rediscovering himself, I’d be very surprised if he even wanted to go back to Arsenal because I don’t think his style will fit with what they want to do. So, to be honest, I don’t even think Arteta has an eye on this. I think he wants Tierney to go away and be successful and find himself a new club and career route. I don’t think he will be playing for Arsenal again.”

Tierney’s future is not the only topic of discussion at the Emirates Stadium as the 2024 winter transfer window draws closer.

Journalist Paul Brown recently revealed to GIVEMESPORT (November 21) that Thomas Partey might not be playing for Arsenal in the future. The Ghanaian international has expressed his desire for a new beginning in January 2024 to the personnel of the north London outfit, according to Tutto Mercato.

After nearly having his head turned by Saudi Pro League team Al-Ahli in the summer of 2023, Partey has spotted interest from Serie A powerhouse Juventus. But before making a choice, the midfield player can hold off to see if any other offers surface alongside Juventus.

Arsenal has reportedly chosen to sign a big-name striker in 2024, but they could have to wait until the summer to do so, according to Football Insider. According to the article, Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus and Ivan Toney of Brentford are thought to be priority targets for the Gunners.
