Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has admitted he made a controversial decision naming his favorite Beatles song when it was revealed Jude Bellingham would not be joining him at Anfield next season.

It’s no secret that Henderson and Borussia Dortmund star Bellingham teamed up at last year’s World Cup, with Gareth Southgate fielding both players alongside Declan Rice in his England midfield.

Jurgen Klopp hints at ‘new things’ to be expected at Liverpool soon after sad admission

“Listen, I just want him (Bellingham) to be the best player he can be,” Henderson said. ā€œOf course, if it ended up being Liverpool, that would be amazing. But itā€™s got to be right for him, and itā€™s going to be every club you can think of that will want him.Ā

ā€œHe has to think about himself and make sure he makes the right decision for his career. But thereā€™s going to be one club that will end up getting him, whether that is now or in a year or two, and it will be a lucky club.Ā

ā€œHonestly, I canā€™t believe his age, how mature he plays, how mature he is off the pitch, in the gym, training, everything, recovery day after the game. He’s just involved in football.”

But Reds fans were wondering if there would be another possibility after a newly released Sky Sports interview with Henderson.

Liverpool skipper asked: “Oasis of The Beatles”? After choosing the Fab Four over the Gallagher brothers, the Liverpool legends asked him for his favorite song. He replied, “Hey Jude,” before laughing and saying, “This is kind of controversial right now!”

JĆ¼rgen Klopp declined to go into detail on the nature of his meeting with principal owner John W Henry this week, but admitted he “needs the right players” to get Liverpool back on track this summer. Fenway Sports Group boss Henry was at the London Stadium on Wednesday to oversee the Reds’ 2-1 win over West Ham United, while the American sat next to CEO Billy Hogan.

Klopp confirmed after the capital match that he spoke to Henry at the team hotel on Tuesday night, saying: “We’ve already had a conversation. I knew he’d come.”

Asked what the conversation with the club owners was about, Klopp coyly dodged the question during Friday’s press conference, but did explain how his midfield rebuild will take shape alongside some of the younger players in his engineering department, such as Curtis Jones (22), Harvey Elliott (20) and Stefan Bajcetic (18).

“I said it, yes. I had [a meeting],” Klopp repeated. “We had conversations the night before the game. JK and JWH met. It was good, yes. You are welcome. Giving any insights? I’m not sure there is a cure
