JUST IN: Sofyan Amrabat now set to fly to England: Not for Manchester United
Manchester United transfer target Sofyan Amrabat is set to travel to England with the rest of the Fiorentina squad this weekend.
Morocco international midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is widely tipped to be Manchester United’s top target once the move for striker Rasmus Hojlund is complete.
Amrabat, 26, has played under Erik ten Hag before at FC Utrecht and is reported to be a target, providing the club is successful in selling Fred or Donny van de Beek, Fabrizio Romano reports.
Reporter Sacha Tavolieri claimed yesterday that intermediaries are in England already to negotiate a move – and now Amrabat is jetting in too.
Amrabat will be in England this weekend
Gazzetta dello Sport report Sofyan Amrabat is scheduled to be part of the Fiorentina squad flying into England for a friendly match this weekend.
Fiorentina face Newcastle at St James Park on Saturday for a 3.30pm kick-off.
The Italian newspaper report the Serie A side are yet to receive an offer from Manchester United, and until then, Amrabat will continue as a Manchester United player.
Hojlund trip to England preceded move
Last weekend Rasmus Hojlund travelled to England as part of the Atalanta squad. Days later a move was agreed.
Was this just coincidence, probably, but this weekend would be an opportune time for United to strike, and ask Amrabat to make the trip across England to undergo a medical, if the club are ready.
Looking strong in training
Gazzetta report Sofyan Amrabat is looking sharp in training sessions for Fiorentina and is certainly not taking it easy.
“Anyone who sees him assures that at the moment he is training with the utmost professionalism,” it is claimed.
The newspaper claims Moroccan sources are convinced Amrabat will end up at Manchester United and his decision is made – but until the offer arrives, Fiorentina are more than happy to keep him around.
