Liverpool injury latest news: as Four players will be missing Aston Villa and Darwin Núñez last
Liverpool injury news: Latest updates before the Reds take on Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend, including Roberto Firmino and Darwin Núñez.
Liverpool have just two games left in the current Premier League season, with the Reds hoping to somehow make it into the top four, ahead of Newcastle or Manchester United.
The only possible way, however, is for Jürgen Klopp’s side to win both of their remaining games – against Aston Villa at Anfield and then away to already relegated Southampton – with goal difference potentially at stake.
Newcastle’s last matches are Brighton and Leicester City at home (previous match to be played later today), followed by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on the final day.
Manchester United will have Bournemouth away this weekend and face Chelsea and Fulham at Old Trafford next week to wrap up the season. Any of the above teams are unlikely to drop enough points to push Liverpool forward as the matches are certainly in Liverpool’s favor finishing the campaign in a Europa League place, but the Reds can only continue to win and hope.
For the remaining matches, Liverpool will have at least one player back from injury, although many more are still missing. Here’s Liverpool.com’s roundup of the latest injury news.
Thiago Alcantara
The Spaniard will be out for the rest of this season after undergoing surgery which will see Thiago return for this summer’s pre-season, in which he hopes to stay fit for longer spells.
Thiago has struggled with a hip injury since the 3-0 defeat to Wolves and while he returned to action, he was sidelined again afterwards. Naby Keita
With his contract due to expire and a departure already confirmed, Keita may well have played his final minutes for Liverpool. He hasn’t returned to training yet, there are only two games left in which he could play.

And even if he’s capable of taking on Aston Villa or Southampton, there’s a good chance others are ahead of him in the pecking order, given he’s been missing for so long and Curtis Jones and company have resigned in that period.
Stefan Bajcetic and Calvin Ramsay
Both young talents, like Thiago, will not play again this season. However, Bajčetić and Ramsay are also hoping to be available again for pre-season ahead of a season in which they could both play. “Iverpool Agree on Premier League Transfer as Roberto Firmino Hint Emerges in Next Confirmation.”
Roberto Firmino is one of four confirmed Liverpool departures and undoubtedly has legend status
Bajčetić established himself as a regular until his season-ending problem, while Ramsay struggles with a series of injuries which marred his time at Anfield.
Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino
While Núñez missed Monday’s win over Leicester City with a minor toe injury, the Uruguayan is a doubt for the weekend as he was absent from Wednesday’s training pictures.
However, Firmino was among his teammates during the training session as Liverpool prepared for Aston Villa. Klopp is expected to provide an update on the pair during his pre-match press conference on Friday.
