Liverpool news and transfers LIVE – Matheus Nunes contest, Trent Alexander-Arnold interest, Adrien Rabiot claim
Liverpool transfer news, rumors, gossip and speculation, including the latest developments on Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and the run-up to the Leeds United game
Jürgen Klopp’s side enjoyed a night to remember on Monday night after beating Leeds United 6-1 at Elland Road. Goals from Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah (2), Diogo Jota (2) and Darwin Nunez ended a five-game wait for a win, revived hopes of a final push for Champions League football.
Liverpool will now look to build on this result when they host Nottingham Forest this weekend, engaging the visitors in a battle of their own on the table.
On the transfer front, a number of midfielders have emerged as transfer targets for the club in recent weeks, Ryan Gravenberch being the latest. Two previously mentioned names, Adrien Rabiot and Matheus Nunes, are once again linked with a summer transfer from their respective clubs. Mason Mount ‘could’ cost less than £70m
Ben Jacobs says there is a belief Anfield Mason Mount will cost less than £70m if Liverpoo look at signing him.
The Chelsea man is at odds with his current club over the terms of a new contract as he believes his importance reflects the same as his teammates.
Liverpool have reportedly been monitoring the situation at Stamford Bridge as their plans for a summer upset continue and are among the favorites to sign the England international.
Now Ben Jacobs has reported that ‘there is a real chance’ he will swap the capital for Merseyside and less than the £70m Chelsea are hoping for.
He wrote in his Caught Offside column: “Chances are Mason Mount will come from Chelsea. Mount is nowhere close to signing an extension at Chelsea and Liverpool see a chance to secure him for a bargain.
“Chelsea will always try and their new manager could be a key factor, but for now Mount can have a more defined and integral role to play at Liverpool. And while Chelsea may be looking to make £70m, Liverpool believe the price tag will be lower.”
Man United want Matheus Nunes
Manchester United reportedly have Matheus Nunes on their radar.
That’s according to Football Insider.
The Wolves midfielder has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent months as the Reds plan midfield reinforcements. However, according to Pete O’Rourke, Erik ten Hag has ambitions to strengthen his midfield.
Rabiot ‘can count’ on Liverpool’s interest
With Adrien Rabiot nearing the end of his Juventus contract, a French football journalist has said the French international can “count” interest from Liverpool.
Ignazio Genuardi has said the Italian giants will find it difficult to meet Rabiot’s demands and has been selected by Jürgen Klopp looking for reinforcements in midfield.
He tweeted: “When his contract with #Juventus #Turin expires, #Rabiot can mainly count on the interest of #Liverpool. While the Old Lady will struggle to meet his demands, the former Parisian has been selected by a Klopp looking reinforcements in midfield. Barcelona ‘look’ at Trent Alexander-Arnold
Barcelona are reportedly eyeing Trent Alexander-Arnold.
This is according to Fichajes who says Xavi’s team is targeting the Liverpool star. Barcelona are said to be looking for another option at right-back.
Alexander-Arnold has come under criticism in recent weeks but has been instrumental in the Reds’ turnaround in the last two.
He had three assists in two appearances against Arsenal and Leeds. Fichajes says it’s a tricky move, but the club believe it’s not impossible given the current situation at Anfield.
