Liverpool to ‘end race’ for Alexis Mac Allister as Mason Mount and Aurelien Tchoumeni claims is made

Liverpool to ‘end race’ for Alexis Mac Allister as Mason Mount and Aurelien Tchoumeni claims is made

A new report claims that Liverpool are about to win the race for Brighton and Argentina midfielder Alexis Mac Allister

Alexis Mac Allister is said to be “ready” to sign for Liverpool.

That’s according to The Mirror, who state the Reds are about “to end” the race for the Brighton & Hove Albion star by wrapping up a £70m deal.

The Argentina international has been heavily linked with a move to Jurgen Klopp’s side, who are looking to sign more than one midfielder this summer. Manchester United and Arsenal are also said to be interested in Mac Allister.

But the report claims the 24-year-old, who won the World Cup with Argentina in the winter, “is believed to be ready to commit his future to Liverpool” and that “talks are a long way down the line.”

Mac Allister has impressed for Roberto De Zerbi’s European-chasing Brighton side this season and most recently scored the winner in their 1-0 victory over Manchester United.

The Mirror also state that the Reds are the favourites to sign Mason Mount for around £50m, but that the deal for the England international will depend on the thoughts of Chelsea’s new manager, which is set to be former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino.

The report also claims that, in addition to Mount and Mac Allister, Liverpool have made an enquiry to Real Madrid over Aurelien Tchoumeni.

The Reds wanted the France international last summer only for him to sign for the European champions.

Liverpool complete second piece of summer business as versatile starlet signs deal

Liverpool have completed their second piece of business ahead of the summer window following the news that academy starlet Jarell Quansah has committed to a new contract at the club.

Quansah has spent the second half of the season on loan at League One side Bristol Rovers, where he has started all bar one of the games he has been available for Joey Barton’s side.

The 20-year-old recently represented England U20s in the recent international break, and has committed to fresh terms at Liverpool that will keep him at the club.

He also captained the Reds’ U18 side to FA Youth Cup success in 2021, and will hope to be the next academy starlet to break into Jurgen Klopp’s first team.

But he is not the only academy graduate to commit to fresh terms with the Reds.

    Reds starlet signs new deal

Following on from Quansah, young right-back Isaac Mabaya has agreed a new contract to stay at Liverpool, the club have confirmed via their official website.

The 18-year-old trained with Liverpool’s first team during last summer’s pre-season, showing the faith that club coaches have in the youngster. He also made several appearances during their friendly schedule.

He also played twice for England U19s in September during two European Championship qualifiers. Mabaya is eligible to play for the Zimbabwe national team, but turned down an approach to play for them in March 2022.

He is a versatile player, who can also play in more advanced roles on the right side of the pitch, or in the centre of midfield.

Mabaya suffered an injury in the beginning of the season which he has been recovering from, and was praised by Liverpool development coach Vitor Matos last year.

Speaking in July, Matos explained (quotes via Soccer24): “I think what they [Mabaya and Stefan Bajcetic] have done in this pre-season that we could say that we expected, considering the last moments of the last season. We recognise a lot of talents, different kinds of profiles as well, individually.

“Isaac, his physical attributes are really, really good and he’s someone that can really give life to the right side of a team.”

Liverpool academy youngster, Isaac Mabaya has agreed to a new contract with the club, becoming the latest to extend his stay at Anfield.

Fellow academy defender, Jarell Quansah also committed his future with the Reds on Friday. The Zimbabwean right-back also followed suit and Liverpool announced the agreement yesterday.

However, the length of the contract hasn’t been specified in the club’s correspondence. Although Mabaya is yet to feature for the senior team, he has been featured on the bench. He had an appearance on the bench in an FA Cup tie against Shrewsbury in January 2022. This is the closest the 18-year-old has come to a debut.

However, he did get first-team exposure during last year’s pre-season program. He played against the likes of Manchester United and Red Bull Salzburg.

Mabaya could draw comparisons to Liverpool star

The young right-back has been highly praised by the Reds’ elite development coach, Vitor Matos. He went on to say that he is really good.

“Isaac, his physical attributes are really, really good and he’s someone that can really give life to the right side of a team.”

His path of being promoted to the senior team from the academy could draw comparisons to the former academy starlet. It would be Trent Alexander-Arnold, who successfully made the step up from the youth level to the first team.

The Englishman has been praised by one of the finest players in the same right-back position in Cafu. Before being introduced to his recent hybrid playmaker position, he played 270 times in the right-back position.

He has helped his childhood club win multiple trophies including the Champions League. He was instrumental in their PL winning season, as they won their first title in the PL era.

Also, while playing in his traditional role he made a staggering 86 goal contributions. Moreover, if the 18-year-old is to emulate the performances of the Englishman, he has a long way to go. If at all Liverpool produce another exceptional right-back, it would be a great feat for the LFC academy.
