What about Nat Phillips?
News of Ibrahima Konate’s hamstring injury spells disaster for Liverpool. Jürgen Klopp has already had to do without the services of defensive talisman Virgil van Dijk.
It could also be that any hope Nat Phillips had of finally walking away from Anfield today will have to be abandoned. Let’s see what’s happening on that front.

Liverpool could miss out on a £10m windfall if the defender’s transfer is confirmed
Nat Phillips’ hopes of leaving Liverpool on transfer deadline day may have taken a hit.
Over the weekend it was reported that Galatasaray were leading the race to sign the centre-back, with The Athletic claiming talks are ongoing. A £10million worth from the Reds, a loan until the end of the season, a loan with an option to buy this summer and a permanent transfer are all said to be under consideration.
Anfield insiders revealed on Tuesday morning that Liverpool are “still waiting to see what happens” when it comes to Phillips and it remains to be seen if he will go ahead. Although he was reportedly open to the idea of a move to Istanbul, his future is in jeopardy after Galatasaray signed an alternative centre-back on Monday night.
The Turkish giants have confirmed the signing of Kaan Ayhan from Serie A side Sassuolo on loan until the end of the season, with the move also including a summer buying obligation for the 28-year-old. It remains to be seen whether the signing of the 47-capped Turkish international will end Galatasaray’s interest in Phillips.
PGMOL admits mistake on Fabinho’s tackle in Liverpool’s defeat to Brighton
Liverpool’s Fabinho at the Amex Stadium on January 29, 2023 in Brighton.
Liverpool midfielder Fabinho should have received a red card instead of a yellow card in the Reds’ FA Cup defeat to Brighton on Sunday, according to a deal by Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL). The Brazilian was booked immediately after coming on as a late substitute for Jurgen Klopp in the fourth round of the FA Cup when he brought down Seagulls striker Evan Ferguson with a late lunge. The 18-year-old had to be treated on the pitch and was unable to continue. Television replays showed Fabinho had raked his studs along the back of his opponent’s ankle.
But despite the presence of VAR technology, the decision was allowed to stand and the Liverpool midfielder escaped with only a warning.
Moises Caicedo “not for sale”
Sky Sports are now reporting that Moises Caicedo is “not for sale” it seems at all costs.
The Ecuadorian is seen as integral to Brighton’s efforts to qualify for Europe and is expected to report for training tomorrow. Those social media posts from Friday don’t look too good right now. There’s always summer…
Arsenal waive Moises Caicedo
Moises Caicedo of Brighton & Hove Albion and Youri Tielemans of Leicester City in action during the Premier League match between Leicester City and Brighton & Hove Albion at King Power Stadium on 21st January 2023.
Arsenal’s well-documented chase against Liverpool goal Moises Caicedo appears to be over, at least for now.
The Gunners had rejected a £60m offer on Friday and an improved £70m offer also fell through. As a result, it appears that Mikel Arteta has now given up on signing the Brighton midfielder and, according to Sky Sports, they have now turned their attention to Chelsea star Jorginho.
The report claims Arsenal are moving towards a deal to bring the 31-year-old Italian to the capital on a surprise deadline.
And in the final minutes, Sky Sports New has now reported that a deal for Jorginho is close.
As a result, Liverpool could still sign Caicedo, but the move is unlikely to happen before the summer provided interest from the Reds has not waned.
Sofyan Amrabat in talks with Barcelona – says the journalist
Liverpool are linked with midfielder Sofyan Amrabat by the World Cup in Qatar, but the Moroccan star is now in talks with Barcelona, according to a new report. Journalist Gerard Romero says the Catalan giants are currently working on a deal to bring the Fiorentina player to the Camp Nou before the European transfer window closes.
Foot Mercato had previously said Amrabat wanted a move to Liverpool in the wake of his World Cup exploits, but with the rumors not leading to an offer, it appears he could be heading to La Liga instead.
CalcioMercato suggests the 26-year-old would be available for around £35m.
