Liverpool transfer news:Kylian Mbappé issues transfer demand as Liverpool has clear winner from Dominik Szoboszlai move
Kylian Mbappé has reportedly issued a huge transfer demand, while Dominik Szoboszlai’s signing has produced a clear winner and loser among Liverpool’s current squad.
Liverpool’s summer rebuild has stepped up another gear after the Reds secured their second new signing on Sunday.
Dominik Szoboszlai became the latest to arrive at Anfield, having signed a five-year contract after completing his move from RB Leipzig. The Reds moved quickly in order to trigger the midfielder’s $76m (£60m/€70m) release clause on Friday, beating the deadline before it expired (as per the ECHO).
Having already secured Alexis Mac Allister last month, Jürgen Klopp now has two pieces of his rebuild in place as he looks to fix the problems that have arisen over the past 12 months.
Szoboszlai will soon get the chance to meet his new teammates, with Liverpool’s players set to return for pre-season training over the next couple of weeks. Some may be happier to see him than others, though, with one clear winner and a loser among the current squad following the transfer.
Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappé’s future continues to be a major talking point for many Liverpool supporters, and the Paris Saint-Germain superstar has reportedly made a huge demand for any clubs eyeing him up this summer.
Here are the two Liverpool.com stories from today that you shouldn’t miss.
Kylian Mbappé makes $261m transfer demand
It seems like every summer there’s more and more speculation over Kylian Mbappé’s future at PSG, and yet the 24-year-old remains in the French capital. That could be about to change soon though, with Mbappé having indicated he won’t sign a contract extension at the club.
That means he could end up leaving PSG for free next summer unless the Ligue 1 giant can sell him in the next few weeks. Their task may have been made harder though amid reports from MARCA that Mbappé is requesting a salary package worth $261m (£206m/€240m) from any club that wants to sign him.
Meanwhile, Manchester City looks to be closing in on the signing of Joško Gvardiol, with The Times reporting Pep Guardiola’s side is set to make him the most expensive defender in the world, which will come as a blow to Liverpool fans after Gvardiol previously admitted to Liverpool being his ‘dream’ club.
Jürgen Klopp has clear winner and loser after Dominik Szoboszlai transfer
Dominik Szoboszlai’s arrival at Anfield will come as a huge boost for Jürgen Klopp, with the Liverpool boss having now bolstered his biggest problem area with two new midfielders.
Of course, with any new signing, there will be current players that will benefit, while others may find themselves being pushed further down the pecking order.
That’s certainly the case for Jordan Henderson, with the Liverpool captain now in danger of seeing his opportunities become more limited, while Darwin Núñez could be set to benefit greatly from Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister’s attacking capabilities.

Dominik Szoboszlai has revealed he has reached out to Manchester City striker Erling Haaland for advice after completing his move to Liverpool on Sunday.
And the £60m signing has also detailed his busy off-the-field schedule before he reports for pre-season training with his new club on July 11 at the AXA Training Centre.
Liverpool moved quickly to secure the deal with RB Leipzig after meeting the player’s representatives at the beginning of last week. The Reds triggered the 22-year-old’s £60m release clause on Friday before flying him into Merseyside on Saturday afternoon.
Szoboszlai developed a close friendship with City striker Haaland during their time together with Red Bull Salzburg and the new No.8 thinks it is possible that they might even become neighbours in the north west after a conversation with the Norway forward.
We’ve talked,” Szoboszlai told the Hungarian-based Nemzeti Sport. “So much so that Erling Haaland has also advised on finding real estate, and it could very well be that we become neighbours.
I learned from him that several players live halfway between Manchester and Liverpool in a quiet area where privacy can be preserved, and on Monday I will see what he was talking about, I am very curious.
“And of course, putting our friendship aside during the Liverpool-Manchester City matches, it will surely be a fantastic experience to play against each other.”
Szoboszlai also sought the counsel of former Liverpool goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi who he played with at Leipzig, adding: “I’ve spoken to him before and he knows what our relationship is like. He was there in Leipzig when I got there, I became a player for the club and I could count on his support from the very first moment.
“He was a very good team-mate of mine and I hope he got over his injury and there will be another Champions League match between Liverpool and RB Leipzig where he can try to save my free-kick!
“I’ll do some training on Monday, I have some paperwork to do, and then look at some potential properties where I’d like to live. Then I have to go to Leipzig, pack up my stuff, say goodbye to my former club, thank everyone for their support, love and encouragement and then to Budapest. But on the 10th at the latest I will be back in Liverpool, because on the 11th I will be training for my new team.
