Manchester United fans are all saying the same thing as Barcelona are hit with serious allegations
Manchester United fans have speculated that more silverware could be coming to Old Trafford after Barcelona were accused of corruption.
Manchester United had a 100% record of reaching the Champions League final until 1968, 1999 and 2008.
It sadly ended in 2009 when Barcelona beat United, then doubled the lead in 2011 in a stunning win at Wembley, which they seemed to fully deserve.
United fans and players were stunned by the dominance of a team considered by many to be the best they had ever seen.
Well, unfortunately for football’s integrity, that title may now come with a giant asterisk. Barcelona was prosecuted
According to ESPN and The Telegraph, among others, Barcelona was indicted for allegedly bribing referees worth millions.
The later report stated:
“Barcelona are facing a corruption case in the Spanish courts following a refereeing scandal that could potentially lead to the football club being banned, at a time when their finances are at their most precarious and Camp Nou has been demolished.”
Barcelona President Joan Laporta denied that Barcelona ever bought referee influence.
The Mail reported that Barcelona could even be banned from competing in the Champions League from next season.
The accusations relate to the period between 2001 and 2018. And it has left Manchester United fans speculating. Manchester United fans’ reaction.
Manchester United fans are wondering and hoping that Barcelona could be stripped of the Champions League title they won during this period.
This could see them awarded to 2009 and 2011 finalists Manchester United, taking our total from three to five.
One fan wrote on social media:
“Let’s bring United the 2009 and 2011 Champions League.”
Another supporter chimed in:
“Strip their 2009 and 2011 Champions League titles and give them to the finalists.”
This was a popular topic, with another fan saying:
“Corruption hmmm. Give us the 2009 and 2011 Champions League and we’ll end it.
Another excited fan wrote:
“We won the 2UCL in Barcelona. 2009 and 2011,” while another celebratory tweet read:
“European Champion 1968, 1999, 2008, 2009, 2011”. Will the Barcelona Champions League be awarded to Manchester United?
There are currently no reports supporting fans’ hopes that Manchester United can snatch the Champions League title from Barcelona at this stage.
The sanctions Barcelona could face are likely to be forward-looking, such as a competitive or financial ban, if found guilty.
It is possible that, if more details about the alleged offenses are revealed, the number of calls requesting a reassessment of their records will increase. However, it remains unclear whether these titles actually went to another team.
And ask the fans of Italian clubs who received trophies after Juventus were eliminated from Serie A, and the “trophies” awarded afterward seemed empty. We have also been here recently before. Manchester City have 115 charges against them from the Premier League.
This has led to similar speculation from supporters about whether United can compete for honors for second place in the Premier League. However, these investigations appear to be no closer to their conclusion and the hope that any meaningful action will be taken appears to be little more than a nostalgic hope.
Man utd fans do you think this should be looked into to discouraged such acts in football?
