Manchester United ‘favorites’ to sign £50M star and other transfer rumors rocking football transfer

Manchester United have been strongly linked with the signing of Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana after the transfer window opened.
Manchester United are now the ‘favourites’ to sign Andre Onana in this summer’s transfer window, after Chelsea gave up their hunt for the Inter Milan goalkeeper.

That’s according to a report by the Evening Standard, which said Londoners have cut short on their interest in the 27-year-old. Chelsea are reportedly allowing Edouard Mendy to leave the club this summer and want a new goalkeeper who can rival Kepa Arrizabalaga for top spot.

It means, according to the report, that United are now favorites to sign Onana, who previously worked under Erik ten Hag at Ajax. The Cameroon international only joined Inter last summer but is already heavily linked with a move after an impressive 2022/23 season.

The goalkeeper has made 41 appearances for Inter this season and has kept a respectable 19 clean sheets. He also put in an impressive performance in the Champions League final loss to Manchester City just over a week ago.
Onana, who has made almost 150 Ajax appearances under Ten Hag, will cost anyone interested “around £50million” this summer, according to the report.

United are preparing for the departure of David de Gea and will have to sign a new first-choice goalkeeper instead of a replacement option. Meanwhile, United are said to be ‘leading’ in the race to sign Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos. This comes according to a report by Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã, which said French giants Paris Saint-Germain are also one of the main suitors for the Portuguese international’s arrival.

Ten Hag, who is keen to add a striker to United’s squad this summer, is believed to be a fan of Ramos, who made his mark last year by scoring a hat-trick in the 6-1 World Cup Round of 16 at the Portugal. -16 – Victory over Switzerland in Qatar. It is claimed that United aren’t too worried about losing De Gea this summer. If De Gea accepts the proposal, they can afford to offer Rashford a lucrative deal. If the Spaniard says no, he can enter the market, sign a younger keeper and build for the future.

United are reportedly interested in Everton defender Jordan Pickford, who is currently England’s No.1. According to the Daily Star, the Red Devils are ready to pay £45m for Pickford and offer him a £200,000-a-week deal, doubling his salary with the Toffees. Crucially, United will offer that £200,000 a week wage to Pickford if De Gea leaves Old Trafford. Another United target goalkeeper is Brentford’s David Raya, although Tottenham are leading the race for the 27-year-old Spain international.

With De Gea’s future at stake, United would certainly secure the services of Rashford for the next phase of his career. The striker won the FA Cup, Europa League, Community Shield and two Carabao Cups with his youth club.
Speaking about Rashford’s future in April, Ten Hag said: “No, it’s not a concern for me. I don’t want to comment on the process because I don’t think it will support the process. But I’m quite relaxed.”

Paris Saint-Germain have previously shown interest in Rashford, who refused to talk about his future last season. He even took to Twitter in March to quell a transfer rumor.

Rashford tweeted: “Just before this starts making the rounds! Its total rubbish. The club and [myself] have had respect for each other and will continue to do so.” My goal is only to do my best in the league and win trophies.

Anderlecht custodian Bart Verbruggen, on United’s radar, is 10 years younger than Flekken and has been touted as a replacement for Sanchez. There are few louder ringing recruitment endorsements than Brighton unearthing a raw gem. Verbruggen was given his debut by Vincent Kompany, who has overseen a remarkable reinvention of Burnley.

Brighton coach Roberto de Zerbi was bold enough to parachute in Jason Steele, a journeyman ‘keeper best known for his porousness in Sunderland ‘Til I Die, when he fell out with Robert Sanchez in the spring. Brighton still finished sixth.

Yet at United, Solskjaer lacked the nerve to outright drop De Gea, cowardly adjusting the pattern of rotation to ensure De Gea started the Europa League final in 2021. He was beaten by all 11 of Villarreal’s spotkicks.
