Marcus Rashford netted a wonderful effort in the opening stages against Manchester City.

Earlier this week, Marcus Rashford said this: “If you back me, good. If you doubt me, even better.”

A few days later and, with questions still being raised about his below-par performances this season, United’s number 10 netted one of the best goals of his career to date.

After a fairly uneventful start to the Premier League clash on Sunday, Rashford silenced the Etihad when he found the back of the net with a thunderous strike from range.

Marcus Rashford scored a goal-of-the-season contender to put Manchester United ahead in the Manchester Derby.

Rashford duly silenced his critics in recent weeks and months as he stunned the Etihad to put Erik ten Hag’s side ahead after just eight minutes in the derby on Sunday afternoon.

Bruno Fernandes was able to chase a long ball in behind City’s backline and hold off Ruben Dias. The United captain then rolled a perfectly weighted lay-off into the path of Rashford who struck first time with power into the roof of Ederson’s goal.
