Marcus Rashford is set to agree a new contract extension with Manchester United worth nearly £100m.

The United forward has a year left on his contract but it is clear he is ready to enter a new deal worth around £375,000 a week.

The new contract, believed to be for five years with the option of an additional year, will make Rashford United’s highest paid player, replacing goalkeeper David De Gea.

De Gea is out of contract later this month and looks set to leave United after failing to agree a new deal with reduced terms of around £175,000 a week.

Rashford’s new contract reflects his emergence as one of United’s key players, with the 25-year-old netting a club record 30 goals last season, a notable turnaround from the previous season when he scored only five. time. Those 30 goals and 11 assists helped United secure third place and an immediate return to the Champions League, while also ending the club’s six-year wait for a trophy with the Carabao Cup.

The English star had attracted interest from Paris St Germain, but Rashford’s intention was always to stay with United and continue his key role in Erik ten Hag’s revival of the fallen giants.

A new number 9 is at the top of Ten Hag’s transfer wish list with a number of names associated with Old Trafford including England captain Harry Kane.

Tottenham Kane are unlikely to join a Premier League rival, with Victor Osimhen, Rasmus Hojlund and Randal Kolo Muani all emerging as alternatives.

Erton and England number 1 Jordan Pickford, Porto and Portugal regular Diogo Costa, as well as Inter Milan Cameroonian stopper Andre Onana are all on the shortlist.
