Modric makes honest confession about Messi
Real Madrid midfielder, Luka Modric, has admitted that it was rare for him to see former Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi, in a Paris Saint-Germain shirt.
Messi joined PSG on a two-year contract last summer after his boyhood club Barcelona was unable to renew his contract due to LaLiga regulations.
The Argentine helped PSG win the Ligue 1 title, scoring 11 goals and registering 15 assists across competitions for the club in his debut season.
However, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner failed to guide PSG to UEFA Champions League glory as they were eliminated by Real Madrid, who eventually won the tournament.
Speaking to Sportske, Modric, who played against Messi in many Clasicos, said: “It was rare to see (Lionel) Messi, after so many Clasicos, in another shirt. With Neymar and (Kylian) Mbappe, they are a collection of talent.
“But we are Real Madrid, and when we find our rhythm, with the fantastic support of the fans, we simply crush them. It was a spectacular night, one of the most impressive for me, and I have experienced many at Real Madrid.”

Robert Lewandowski claims ‘any striker would dream of playing with Lionel Messi’ amid rumours he could return to Barcelona –
despite reports he has signed a new PSG deal – and admits the World Cup winner is the favourite for the Ballon d’Or
Robert Lewandowski has admitted that any striker would like to play with Lionel Messi as a return to Barcelona remains a possible option for the Argentine.
The latest news is that Messi is set to sign a new deal to stay at PSG but a return to the Nou Camp could be a fairytale ending to his career.
Lewandowski currently leads the line for Barcelona and he would welcome the World Cup winner.
‘It’s not up to me,’ he said with a smile when asked if he would like to play with Messi before he retires.
‘Of course, we see that now he plays more like a ‘playmaker’, maybe he scores fewer goals and gives more passes to his teammates although he continues to score them.
‘But compared to other times, he is now the footballer that any striker would dream of playing alongside him.
Lewandowski was also asked if he thinks Messi has already sealed an eighth Ballon d’Or.
‘Of course,’ he responded. ‘There is maybe one more player who plays for the same club but there is only one World Cup that decides who is going to win it this season and Leo is now in the top position for sure because of what he has achieved which means everything to him. He now he can enjoy it.’
