Perfect Deal : Arsenal not wasting time has ‘completed’ their first deal signing the West Ham Ace
Arsenal have reportedly already convinced Declan Rice to join them from West Ham.
Arsenal’s attempt to sign Declan Rice is said to be ‘complete’ already and has been for some time. It has been claimed that the West Ham star only really wants to join the Gunners this summer.
There is one year left on Rice’s contract with West Ham, with an option to extend for a further 12 months. But it looks like he played his last game for the club.
The English star led the Hammers to their first silverware in 43 years on Wednesday, winning the Europa Conference League after a 2-1 victory over Fiorentina. Rice didn’t commit when asked about his future after the game.
However, West Ham chairman David Sullivan has since admitted Rice will leave this summer. Arsenal have been closely linked to the 24-year-old since the start of the year and are optimistic about securing a deal for the £100m star. And the latest reports suggest they have their man. A source close to Sullivan spoke to German newspaper Ran.
According to the source, Rice Sullivan clarified some time ago that he would only join Arsenal if he leaves. It is also claimed that an agreement has already been reached for Rice to move to London.
Bayern Munich and Manchester United are also interested in signing Rice. But it looks like Arsenal have won the bid for his signature.
Rice was the main target for Arsenal going into the summer term. The Gunners waited to make an official offer until after Wednesday’s game in Prague.
With Granit Xhaka set to return to Germany to join Bayer Leverkusen, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta needs to recruit in midfield. Brighton star Moises Caicedo is also a target for second place in the Premier League after initial interest in January.
Sullivan made it clear on Thursday that West Ham would not oppose Rice’s wish to leave. When asked if he played his last game for the club, he told talkSPORT: “I think it has to be. We promised him he could leave. He is keen to pass to something else.
“It’s not something we want. We offered him £200,000 a week 18 months ago. He refused.
“It cost him £10m to stay at West Ham for that period (losing wages). And he wants to leave. You can’t keep a player who doesn’t want to be there.”
