Pundit can’t help talking about 20-year-old superb Manchester City wonderkid
Oscar Bobb, who has earned a start for Manchester City ahead of their next match against Huddersfield Town, received high praise from Paul Dickov.
On the official pre-match program that City hosted on the club’s YouTube account prior to the match, the pundit praised Bobb’s contributions at the senior level.
Every time the 20-year-old takes the field, he appears to demonstrate why he should be a member of the Sky Blues senior team.
Paul Dickov commends “genuine talent.” Oscar Bobb
After the Norwegian attacker’s sprightly display off the bench during his side’s 2-0 victory against Sheffield United, Robbie Mustoe sang praises about his talent.
Micah Hamilton, who played alongside the highly-rated youngster at youth level also hailed him as a “top player” after Manchester City’s 3-2 win against Red Star Belgrade.
As Pep Guardiola decided to field Oscar Bobb in his starting XI for City against Huddersfield in the FA Cup, Paul Dickov lauded him.
“Delighted for Oscar Bobb. He’s had an impact every time he’s been on the pitch, over in Belgrade [during Manchester City’s 3-2 win against Red Star Belgrade], last game here [against Sheffield United] where he came on and set up the [Julian Alvarez] goal”, he said on Manchester City’s official pre-match show ahead of the game on the club’s YouTube channel.
“So, he looks [like] a real talent. There was interest in him weeks ago and Pep [Guardiola] said about the younger players and Oscar Bobb, he said, ‘No, no, Oscar Bobb is part of my squad now.’ He’s in there and great opportunity for him today and, the young lads on the bench as well, it just shows the academy is really bearing its fruit now.”
Another chance for Oscar Bobb to impress
At the elite level, one is only as good as their last performance and while putting excessive pressure on a young prospect like Oscar Bobb would not be ideal, he has the chance to impress Paul Dickov and several other observers by putting in yet another scintillating display.
Most importantly, the teenager could cement the fact that he is well and truly prepared to start by showcasing his class, further bolstering the trust Pep Guardiola already seems to have in his natural talent.
Instead of emerging as a standout performer, Bobb should adapt to Guardiola’s systemic demands, which he has done so expertly so far during his time in the treble-winners’ first-team.
If Oscar Bobb manages to do so while exhibiting the quality he has in the final third, he would have made a serious impression.
