Saturday’s Premier League :Manchester United must earn Everton success
Manchester United have lost just one Premier League game at Old Trafford this season
– Everton have only won once away and are the joint top goalscorer
– Aston Villa are unbeaten in their last six games, winning five
Nottingham Forest have scored just five away goals in the Premier League this season
Manchester will look to maintain their top-four ambitions on Saturday when they face an Everton side fighting for their lives in the Premier League.
Aston Villa are also late climbers for the European places and are similarly facing a team struggling on the wrong side of the table in Nottingham Forest.
These two clashes are the focus of our latest Saturday Bet Builders.
Manchester United vs Everton (Saturday 12.30pm)
Manchester United win
Manchester United returned to winning ways on Wednesday with a skillful 1-0 win over Brentford and can continue in a similar style against Everton.
The Toffees have improved a lot under Sean Dyche, but have only beaten Southampton on the road this season, losing five of their six away games to sides currently eighth or higher in the Premier League. The absence of key midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure is a blow to Everton on their difficult journey to Old Trafford, as the Mali international’s steel and graft will be sorely missed.
A lack of scoring threat in the continued absence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin further limits Everton’s chances of securing a shock result at Old Trafford.
Bet 2: Under three goals
That lack of threat is evident in Everton’s goal tally in first-half team visits, with the Toffees missing in five of eight such games.
Manchester United are also not the strongest attacking unit under Erik ten Hag, as the Red Devils are only the eighth top scorer in the top flight, with more than two goals in just five of 28 league games.
Ten Hag’s men had not scored in three consecutive Premier League games before Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Brentford, so the floodgates are unlikely to open against a defensively compact Dyche side . Bet 3: James Tarkowski receives a card
Everton centre-back James Tarkowski was extremely lucky not to be shown a yellow card for a clear tactical foul against Tottenham in midweek and never hesitates to use the dark arts to keep the opposition at bay.
The Toffees will be under constant pressure at Old Trafford and with Marcus Rashford and tricky wingers Antony and Jadon Sancho running around the Everton backline, Tarkowski is likely to be forced into some tricky decisions.
The former Burnley man has received yellow cards in four of his last six league away games and may be lucky to avoid another on Saturday lunchtime.
Recommended bookmaker: Manchester United win by less than three goals and James Tarkowski is booked.
