Difficult learning: “I don’t mind losing, but what are those standards? We’re above them at the table, but mentally we feel like 15th.”
💬 Charles Watts: “Partey’s disgusting pursuit of De Bruyne in front of goal. It’s a great finish, but Ramsdale shouldn’t be beaten by this one. Such a frustrating goal to concede again.”
💬 Deckatoe: “Well, it was fun while it lasted. The defense and Ramsdale have come a long way since Saliba’s injury. He will choose to remember this season as a huge positive. Great strides have been made and we know what we need to do to improve next year.”
Match Summary and more reactions
City opened the scoring early through De Bruyne and doubled their lead through a Stones header after a lengthy VAR review.
The hosts dominated the Gunners in the first half, creating several chances, so Arsenal were lucky to be 2-0 down.
The dominance continued into the second half when De Bruyne penalized Arsenal for giving away the ball in midfield. The Gunners scored a consolation goal through Holding after a nice combination, but it came too late and didn’t matter much in the big picture, especially as Haaland made it 4-1 in added time.
It was an extremely poor performance from the Gunners, who didn’t deserve to get anything out of this game. It’s safe to say the title is now lost to Arsenal, who are two points ahead of City but have played two games.

💬Cameron: “Maybe it’s just that the trick is played in the wrong position.”
💬 AllofMyTeamSuck: “It honestly feels like we’re just waiting for the game to end. Pretty much as one might reasonably expect, from pretty much everyone.”
💬 Cedseebeach: “Regardless of today’s result, it’s still encouraging to see the team’s improvements after the 5-0 win on our last visit to Etihad. “In an alternate universe where we didn’t lose Saliba, we could have had a better result in our last 3 games and given Manchester City a hard time, but unfortunately that’s what it is in this universe. Hoping Arteta the support he has need to strengthen our squad and our bench this summer.”
MasterJJSunglasses: “A huge criticism of Arteta that he needs to work on is his substitutions and willingness to switch things up, continue with players when things clearly aren’t working.”

💬 Charles Watts: “Terrible pursuit of De Bruyne by Partey for the goal. It’s a great finish, but Ramsdale really shouldn’t be beaten by it. Such a frustrating goal to concede again.
💬 Deckatoe: “Welp, it was fun while it lasted. The defense and Ramsdale have taken huge steps back since Saliba’s injury. I will choose to remember this season as a huge positive. Huge progress has been made and we know what we need to do to improve next year.”
💬 Toolbox: “Ramsdale and a goal conceded just outside the post. Name a more legendary duo.
💬 Pietro Alonzi: “It’s a clear pen, lucky to get away with it, big mistake by Ramsdale and Partey”
💬 shekdown: “Surrounding the referee for everything. It’s not Partey’s fault at all. Partey was in control and protected.”
💬 Mikel Arteta on Xhaka: “Granit Xhaka has been very important all season. Since I’ve been here, he’s played every game. We need experience, competitiveness and advantage. We’re glad he’s back.”

🗣 Pep Guardiola (via BBC): “Everyone has seen Arsenal this season. They are strong in all departments. Set pieces, transitions, possession, accumulation at four or three and Zinchenko inside, the runs of Martinelli and Saka.
