Super Eagle: What time and where to watch the Nigeria vs Saudi Arabia match
Here’s what you need to know if you’re watching Nigeria’s friendly against Saudi Arabia.
A high-profile international friendly match between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Saudi Arabia’s Green Falcons will take place in Portimo.
The match will take place at Portimonense S.C.’s home ground, Portimo Municipal Stadium, in the Algarve, which can accommodate nearly 10,000 spectators.
The three-time African champions defeated Sao Tome and Principe 6-0 in the qualifying match for the final day of CAN 2023 in Uyo less than a month ago.
Overview of Saudi Arabia
At St James’ Park last month, Saudi Arabia suffered back-to-back defeats to Costa Rica and South Korea in Roberto Mancini’s first international break as coach.
31 Saudi Arabian players have been called up for the Super Eagles’ friendly match by former Manchester City coach Al-Hilal, who has the most with 12 players.
Since being eliminated from the 2022 FIFA World Cup group stage last year, the home team has now lost 6 consecutive matches.
The Green Falcons, who hired Roberto Mancini as their new coach in August, will be looking for their first win.
Mancini has revealed his 31-man squad for this week’s match against Nigeria and next week’s match against Mali. Another loss for Saudi Arabia is expected as Nigeria’s Super Eagles are clear favourites.
31 Saudi Arabian players were summoned by the former Manchester City coach, of which Al-Hilal has the most with 12 people.
They will now face a Nigerian team that boasts one of the strongest attacking line-ups in football, including Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Taiwo Awoniyi, Samuel Chukwueze, Ademola Lookman and Gift Orban.
Another Saudi loss is expected because Nigeria is clearly the higher rated team.
Saudi Arabia’s Green Falcons, who hired Roberto Mancini as their new coach in August, will be aiming for their first win against Nigeria’s Super Eagles. Saudi Arabia’s Green Falcons, who will face Mali Eagles four days later at the same venue, have only faced Nigeria once at senior level and that match was a friendly.
Overview of Nigeria
Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has invited 25 players to a camp to prepare for upcoming friendlies against Mozambique and Saudi Arabia.
Three-time Africa Cup of Nations winners Super Eagles Nigeria say they will use the rallying cry “Let’s do it again”.
Nice’s Terem Moffi was invited despite being on the bench in Nigeria’s recent match against Sao Tome and Principe.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru first received an invitation to Peseiro’s team while he was still playing football for Turkish Super Lig club Hatayspor. After this week’s match against Saudi Arabia, Nigeria will face Mozambique in another friendly match next week.
The Super Eagles’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter with Lesotho will be prepared with these two matches.

Gary Neville gives bleak verdict on where Man Utd will finish in Premier League this season
Manchester United have endured a poor start to the 2023-24 Premier League campaign and Gary Neville is not optimistic of the Red Devils’ chances of a successful season
Ten Hag says ‘Man Utd in heart’ of matchwinner McTominay
Gary Neville believes Manchester United are “way off” finishing in the top five this season after a rotten start to the campaign.
The Red Devils sit tenth in the Premier League standings heading into the October international break. Erik ten Hag’s side have already lost four matches this term from their opening eight league games.
Scott McTominay was required to rescue United in their comeback victory over Brentford at the weekend. Despite that late success, Neville is still not overly convinced by his former side and believes they will miss out on a place in the Champions League come the end of the season.
He has pointed to Andre Onana’s difficult form since his £47million arrival from Inter Milan as a reason behind United’s poor start. Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast, the former defender said: “I don’t think Manchester United will finish in the top five this season. I think they are way off it.
“And I’m surprised because seven or eight weeks ago, I had them third, But honestly from what I see at the moment, I don’t think the goalkeeper is settled in, I think he should have saved the one yesterday so that is a problem.
“If your goalkeeper is not settled in and there is a bit of instability around that, it does create a big problem. I’ve had that at United. So United, not for me.
“Chelsea, I think are probably nearer to it if they can go on a run because they have got some really good young talented players. Their age is a lot better than United’s squad.”
Man United’s struggles come after they spent heavily in the transfer market in an effort to build on their third-placed finish last term. The Red Devils spent around £175m in the summer but so far a number of their signings look less than inspiring.
Former Chelsea star Mason Mount has spent a large portion of the early part of the season on the sidelines, while loanee Sergio Reguilon has been added to the club’s injury list. Meanwhile, £47m goalkeeper Onana has made a number of errors since his arrival from Inter Milan.
Away from their poor start in the Premier League, the Red Devils have also had a nightmare start in the Champions League. The Red Devils sit bottom of their group after defeats to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.
United defender Harry Maguire has called on his teammates to harness their win against Brentford after their international break. He said: “That was a really important win. Obviously it has been a difficult time for us at the start of this season. This must be a turning point for us all, as individuals and as a club. We must kick on from this.”
