Atletico Madrid flop joins Jordan Henderson at Al-Ettifaq as he becomes Steven Gerrard’s first major signing since his move to the Saudi Pro League

French striker Moussa Dembele has joined Al-Ettifaq as a free agent following the expiration of his contract at Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais.

Al-Ettifaq – who have signed the likes of Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson and Scotland defender Jack Hendry – confirmed Dembele’s arrival on Wednesday.

The financial details of the deal were not disclosed but Dembele will feature in the Saudi Pro League next season and play under their new manager Steven Gerrard.

The club took to Twitter – which has been rebranded as X – to welcome the 26-year-old to the club this summer. They wrote: ‘Moussa Dembele, welcome to Al-Ettifaq’.

Wherever Eden Hazard was spotted this summer he was always going to be linked to the nearest club. Last weekend he was in Vigo and with Rafa Benitez the new coach of Celta Vigo the Belgian was being touted as their big signing.

One thing almost goes without saying – wherever he goes he will have to take a massive paycut.

Last season he was La Liga’s top earner on around €31million (£27m) gross. At 10 games played (only two starts) last season that works out at over €3m (£2.6m) a game. No one in Europe is queuing up to pay him even close to that figure and a club like Celta, where he would at least be first choice, would struggle with €3m a season.

Fabinho looks set to complete his move to Saudi Arabian champions Al-Ittihad after being left out of Liverpool’s pre-season trip to Singapore.

The deal had been delayed as talks between the two clubs stalled over the payment structure of the deal. However, according to The Athletic it seems a resolution has been found Fabino won’t travel to Singapore with the rest of the squad.

The Brazilian’s impending move comes hot on the heels of Jordan Henderson’s exit from the club to Al-Ettifaq, with the England midfielder confirming his exit from the club after 12 years.

Lyon in talks with Southampton for Duje Caleta-Car

Lyon have made contact with Southampton over a potential move for defender Duje Caleta-Car.

The 26-year-old was previously a target for Liverpool before he joined Saints, but he struggled to impose himself on the south coast.

Now the centre-back could return to Ligue 1, having been a Marseille regular in the past.

After previously been targeted by Liverpool, Caleta-Car joined Southampton on deadline day in an £8m deal from Marseille, signing a four-year contract at St Mary’s

The Tottenham and England star‘s future has been one of the stories of the transfer window so far, with Bayern having had a number of approaches turned down by Daniel Levy and Spurs.

Kane’s contract is up at the end of the season, and will therefore be allowed to leave for free, although Levy seems content to allow his star to depart for nothing, the perks of keeping him for an extra season seemingly more important than a cash injection.

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly made an offer of £43million (€50million) for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.

The 26-year-old first joined the Nerazzurri as a youth player in 2013, but has struggled to assert himself in the side amid a string of loan spells at Serie A clubs including Genoa, Parma, and Cremonese.

Most recently, Radu served a six-month loan spell at Auxerre as the Ligue 1‘s side first-choice keeper, but he was unable to keep the imperiled club from dropping out of the top flight at the end of the season.

Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has criticised the attitude of his former team-mate Romelu Lukaku.
