Wanted to be the new Gerrard, once worth 70 million and now nobody wants him in Europe
Liverpool: Agent of £130M star on way to England to hold talks over possible move
The agents of Napoli forward Victor Osimhen are set for sit down talks with a whole host of Premier League clubs this week, including LIVERPOOL.
Osimhen has ready established himself as one of the very best strikers in the game right now and a man that is tipped to make a big summer move.
He helped Napoli win their first League title for many seasons and led the scoring charts in the process – with reports suggesting that the Italians now value him at around the £130 million mark.
Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add a striker to that attack that couldnt score goals last season, Man United coach Erik Ten Hag knows that he needs somebody like Osimhen if he has any hope of winning that Premier League title.
Jurgen Klopp is also on the lookout for more big named signings as Darwin Nunez struggled to make the impact at the club that many had hoped for – while Roberto Firmino has now left the club – leaving the Reds short.
Now – according to reports via Belgian transfer reporter Sacha Tavolieri, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are three two of the sides holding a keen interest.
With no fee yet mentioned, it is thought the forward would cost in excess of £100m given he scored 26 goals in 32 Serie A games, as Napoli won their first Scudetto since 1990 last season.
One thing for is certain – if the likes of LIVERPOOL, Man United and Chelsea are keen on the man – they will have to pay some serious money.
Liverpool dont really need a striker – but if they wanted Osimhen – he could be a very solid addition to that front-line that is for certain guys.
It will be interesting to see just where he ends up.
Wanted to be the new Gerrard, once worth 70 million and now nobody wants him in Europe
Arrived at Anfield as one of the great gems of world football
One of Liverpool’s greatest legends, for many the greatest, is Steven Gerrard. The eternal captain of the Reds marked an era with the Merseyside team and will always be remembered with great affection by the Anfield fans. That is why whenever a new signing is compared to Gerrard, expectations are immense.
Back in 2020, Liverpool had just won the Champions League and was at the peak of Jürgen Klopp’s project, as they had won every trophy possible, but that did not stop the board from continuing to sign new players who could continue to add quality to a squad full of talent.
That is why they signed Thiago Alcantara from FC Bayern, who at that time was also a player with great experience and a winning record that led him to be valued at 70 million euros. He was also one of the most talented midfielders in the world, as his refined technique was one of the great qualities he possessed since his time at FC Barcelona.
However, Thiago could never be the player everyone expected at Anfield. His constant injuries and his low level took him away from the call-ups more and more, and although his talent was still unquestionable, he no longer fitted completely in Klopp’s scheme, so he has gradually lost prominence.
Where will Thiago play next season?
Although Thiago has a contract with Liverpool until 2024, it is unlikely that the Reds board wants to offer him a renewal, and also with the arrival of the signings that Jürgen Klopp is planning for this transfer window, he might not have many playing minutes next season. That is why Thiago himself would be looking for a new team, the problem is that so far there is no reported interest from other teams.
