This is a coverage of  Mauricio Pochettino’s press conference following Chelsea’s 3-1 loss to West Ham.

Ahead of the match, the club confirmed the signing of both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia but only the former would find a place in the matchday squad. Pochettino gave an update on Reece James’ injury, as well as other movements in the transfer market.

Notably, Nayef Aguerd’s header got the hosts off to the best start possible from James Ward-Prowse’s corner but it was obvious Carney Chukwuemeka ensured the Blues didn’t go down without a fight following a lovely finish from inside the box after 28 minutes.

Close to half-time, the Blues were awarded a penalty following Raheem Sterling’s mazy run before he was brought down by Thomas Soucek. However, Enzo Fernandez would step up and see his spot-kick saved by Alphonse Areola.

Towards the second half we saw an immediate response from West Ham, who were fired back into the lead by Michail Antonio just eight minutes after the break. A brutal tackle on Nicolas Jackson from Aguerd saw him had red midway through the half but Chelsea couldn’t take advantage of the extra man.

It ended with a horror cameo for Caicedo, who gave a penalty away in added time which was dispatched by Lucas Paqueta to cement the Irons’ win.

Stay tuned as the Blues boss gives his thoughts on the result…
