After securing Champions League football last season, coupled with a major trophy and the prospect of new owners, many would have tipped Man United to push towards the summit of the Premier League table this year.
However, they have been mediocre at best. Not only are they as far away from the top of the table as they are above Luton in the relegation zone (16 points), they are also 11th on expected points. The data only confirms the visuals sadly. Erik ten Hag has had to deal with dressing room issues as well, to leave a pungent stench around the club.
Conversely, Gary O’Neil has done a superb job at Wolves. After easily guiding Bournemouth to safety last season, he now manages a club that sits four points above them despite only taking charge of them just three days before the start of the season.
Victory for Wolves against Man United would see them leapfrog Thursday’s hosts and potentially see the Red Devils slip into the bottom half of the table.

Wolves vs Man United Prediction
Although the data backs up United’s league position, it also exposes their away form. Disregarding matches against the bottom four, Man United have lost five of their seven league games away from home.
In their last four games on the road, they have secured one point and scored just one goal. Indeed, United have amassed the same amount of goals as Everton (four less than Luton). It is no surprise to see them with a minus goal difference, the only team in the top half with one.
In stark contrast, Wolves have lost just twice in 10 league games at home under O’Neil. Indeed, both those losses came in the first two games, which can easily be excused when considering the time O’Neil came into the club.
Therefore, they’re unbeaten in their last eight games at Molineux, a ground which has become a fortress for them. Of those eight, they’ve won five which includes beating Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City. Both Aston Villa and Newcastle were held to draws too.
With Pedro Neto now back into the team, Wolves can win here and leapfrog United in the table.
