Zlatan Ibrahimovic responds to Manchester United message after announcing his retirement

Zlatan Ibrahimovic ended his stellar career on Sunday in response to Man United message

Manchester United have paid tribute to former striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic after his retirement from professional football.

The 41-year-old is out after winning 34 trophies – including 14 league titles – his last at AC Milan last season.

Zlatan spent just two years in Manchester after signing from Jose Mourinho’s side in July 2016. During his time at Old Trafford, he won the League Cup and the Europa League.

The official Reds Twitter account paid tribute to Zlatan’s successful career in the game, during which he received 11 Ballon d’Or nominations, with a social media post. An impressive career for a man like no other. Congratulations on all you have achieved and all the best in your retirement, @Ibra_Official,” wrote the club’s official channels. Zlatan responded via Twitter, replying with three heart-shaped emojis.

Ibrahimovic has never hidden his passion for United. Speaking to former United player Bojan Djordjic in 2018, the Swede insisted: “I gave my all as long as I could; when I got injured I got support in a different way. They have always stood behind me and my teammates.

“They are special: wherever I see red, I think of United. It will go down in history and in my career; When I look back on my time at United, I will do so with a smile. I wish them all the best for the future.
