United Continue Their Momentum with a Convincing 2–0 Win Over Tottenham at Old Trafford
I don’t know about you, but this 2–0 win against Tottenham at Old Trafford really felt like another clear sign that Manchester United are moving in the right direction. Confidence is growing, performances are improving, and results are now backing it up. That makes it four wins in a row under Michael Carrick, and the transformation in such a short space of time has been impressive.
What stands out most is how organised and controlled United now look. There’s a clear structure both in and out of possession, and we’re no longer easy to play through. Tottenham had spells of the ball, but genuine chances were limited, and that hasn’t always been the case this season. Carrick has already matched the number of clean sheets United managed under Amorim, and he’s done it in just his first four matches. That speaks volumes about the defensive improvement.
At the heart of everything good was Bruno Fernandes, once again leading by example. He continues to be directly involved in goals almost every week, and reaching 200 goal contributions for the club highlights just how important he is. His energy, creativity, and leadership set the tone, especially in big games like this.
Another standout was Kobbie Mainoo, who continues to play with maturity well beyond his years. Calm on the ball, positionally intelligent, and always available as an option, he gives United control in midfield. He never looks rushed, even under pressure, and that composure lifts the whole team.
Defensively, it was a strong collective effort. Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw were solid and focused, while Lisandro Martínez brought quality and calmness in possession, helping United play out from the back with confidence. In midfield, Casemiro quietly went about his business, breaking up play and providing the experience needed in a game of this intensity.
Diogo Dalot deserves credit as well. He’s clearly more comfortable in a back four and once again contributed going forward, picking up an assist. His consistency has been a real positive in recent weeks.
Going forward, United looked confident and purposeful. Matheus Cunha played with flair and freedom, while Bryan Mbeumo showed real composure to take his goal well. Both caused problems for the Spurs defence and made their presence felt.
United did relax slightly after taking the lead, and the red card later on certainly shifted the balance further in our favour. Even so, it’s hard to argue against the fact that United were the better side from start to finish.
Overall, this was a convincing, controlled performance, another step forward under Carrick, and a fully deserved win. Momentum is building, belief is growing, and Old Trafford is starting to feel like a fortress again — exactly how it should be. 🔴😍
