“On my visit, I felt how family-oriented everything was,” Mingo explained on ESPN. “The coaches just made me feel welcomed. The team was super nice. I hung out with the team for a bit. They were all connected. I didn’t feel any animosity. And the legacy of North Carolina, that was a dream of mine since I was a kid” .
He also maintained close contact with current UNC star and likely future lottery pick Caleb Wilson, who served as an effective recruiter. “He was very welcoming on my visit,” Mingo recalled. “It was fun to chill with him on my visit. He told me to come here if you want to go to the League, basically. When you do get there, take full accountability for what you are repping in North Carolina” .
