CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Five-star recruit Maximo Adams has reaffirmed his commitment to the UNC Tar Heels despite the recent coaching change that saw Michael Malone replace Hubert Davis .
The 6-foot-7 small forward told ESPN he is “excited to be coached by Coach Malone,” citing UNC as his “dream school” . Adams, a Sierra Canyon product and McDonald’s All-American, is ranked the No. 21 overall prospect in the 2026 class .
His decision provides a massive early victory for the new Malone regime, which is working to stabilize the roster amid transfer portal departures. The Tar Heels now await a decision from fellow five-star commit Dylan Mingo .
