INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Fever have announced their injury report ahead of Sunday afternoon’s matchup against the Washington Mystics at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and the news is largely positive for a team jockeying for playoff positioning with just three games remaining in the regular season.
Star guard Caitlin Clark is listed as probable with a back issue, a designation that has become a familiar sight for Fever fans throughout the 2026 campaign. Backup center Damiris Dantas remains out as she continues to recover from left knee surgery that has sidelined her for the remainder of the season.
Clark’s Status: Precautionary Listing or Genuine Concern?
Clark’s inclusion on the injury report is unlikely to keep her out of Sunday’s contest. The 24-year-old guard has been listed as probable with the same back designation more than 30 times this season, and she has missed only four games as a result.
The persistent listing stems from a WNBA warning issued to the Fever in May after Clark was unexpectedly ruled out against the Portland Fire less than two hours before tipoff without having appeared on the previous day’s injury report. Clark had been dealing with back soreness and had missed practice for treatment, but the team did not disclose her status until game day.
Following that incident, head coach Stephanie White indicated that fans should expect to see Clark listed as probable going forward to ensure compliance with league policy. The Fever have adhered to that approach ever since, listing Clark regardless of whether she is genuinely at risk of missing time.
Clark demonstrated her readiness for Sunday’s game with a dominant performance in Friday night’s 103-85 road victory over the Toronto Tempo. She finished with 28 points, 14 assists, and six rebounds, recording her 14th double-double of the season. Clark shot 7-of-15 from the field, 2-of-8 from three-point range, and a perfect 12-of-12 from the free-throw line in 34 minutes of action.
The Fever guard is averaging 22.6 points, 8.5 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game this season while leading the WNBA in assists. Her back issue has been managed carefully throughout the year, but there is no indication that it will prevent her from playing in a critical late-season matchup.
Dantas Out for Season
Damiris Dantas underwent left knee surgery in early August and has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 season. The backup center had appeared in a limited role before the injury, and her absence leaves Indiana with reduced frontcourt depth behind starters Aliyah Boston and NaLyssa Smith.
Dantas remains with the team and continues her rehabilitation, but her season is officially over.
Mystics Enter with Clean Bill of Health
Unlike the Fever, the Washington Mystics have no players listed on their injury report for Sunday’s game. The Mystics will welcome back guard Sonia Citron, who missed Thursday’s game against the Chicago Sky due to personal reasons. Georgia Amoore, who was listed as questionable on Friday with a knee issue, has also been cleared to play.
Washington enters the matchup sitting eighth in the WNBA standings, but the Mystics are just two games behind the fifth-ranked Fever. With playoff seeding implications on the line, Washington will look to close the gap with a road victory.
Playoff Positioning at Stake
Sunday’s game carries significant weight for both teams as the regular season winds down. The Fever currently sit at 27-14 and are tied with the Atlanta Dream for the No. 4 seed, though Atlanta holds the tiebreaker. A win over Washington would keep Indiana in contention for home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
The Mystics, meanwhile, are fighting to improve their playoff positioning and avoid slipping further down the bracket. The teams have split their first two meetings this season, with both games decided by single digits. Indiana won the most recent matchup on June 8 when Clark hit a three-pointer with less than two seconds remaining to lift the Fever to a 78-76 victory.
